The 2026 film Send Help is coming to 4K in April

Sam Raimi directed the movie, which stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien. It’s worth noting that this movie is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-66 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround sound, on a BD-50 disc. This release will be a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. A digital code (copy) will be included, which is compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is not yet available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned for an update. The bonus material for the release is detailed below.

The Quick and the Dead 4K SteelBook in October

The 1995 film “The Quick and the Dead” will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on October 7th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Sam Raimi directed and produced the film. It starred Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe, and Leonardo DiCaprio. It co-starred Keith David, Roberts Blossom, Kevin Conway, Lance Henriksen, Pat Hingle, Gary Sinise, and Tobin Bell.

This release will be to celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary. NOTE: This film has been previously released on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format, back in 2018. However, that release only included the HDR10 form of high dynamic range, and this will also include Dolby Vision for the first time on physical media. That being said, tech specs for 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, accompanied by Dolby Atmos and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The 2-disc release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital copy compatible with Movies Anywhere.

You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook now available for preorder at Amazon and at retailer Walmart. The only bonus material included with this release consists of 7 Deleted Scenes and the Theatrical Trailer. No new extras will be featured.

The 2000 Sam Raimi film The Gift comes to 4K in December

The 2000 film “The Gift” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 3rd via Scream Factory (Shout! Studios). The film, directed by Sam Raimi and co-written by Billy Bob Thornton, starred Cate Blanchett, Giovanni Ribisi, Keanu Reeves, Katie Holmes, Greg Kinnear, and Hillary Swank.

This comes from a new 2024 4K restoration. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. This release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray counterpart. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available to preorder at Amazon. A Simple Plan comes to 4K and Blu-ray in November

The 1998 film “A Simple Plan” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc in Limited Editions on November 19th via Arrow Video. The film, directed by Sam Raimi, starred Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thornton, Bridget Fonda, Brent Briscoe, and Gary Cole. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has received a new 4K remaster from the original negative, approved by director Sam Raimi. Tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Limited Editions available for preorder at Amazon. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Limited Editions are also available directly for preorder via Arrow Video’s website. The Limited Edition 4K and Blu-ray sets will include an illustrated collector’s booklet and reversible sleeve (4K version pictured below).

1990 Sam Raimi film Darkman on 4K in February

The 1990 film adaptation of “Darkman” directed by Sam Raimi is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 20th, 2024 via Scream Factory (Shout! Studios).  The film starred Liam Neeson, Frances McDormand, Colin Friels, Larry Drake, Nelson Mashita, Dan Hicks, and Ted Raimi.  The tech specs for the release include a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound.  It’s most certainly worth noting that there will be a standard “Collector’s Edition” and a limited edition SteelBook release (pictured below).  You can find both available for preorder directly from ShoutFactory.com‘s store.  You can also find the 4K UHD Blu-ray standard release and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available for preorder over at Amazon, as well as over at Walmart.

2013 version of Evil Dead on 4K in September

The 2013 version of Evil Dead is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 27th via Scream Factory (Shout! Factory).  The film, produced by Sam Raimi, directed & co-written by Fede Alvarez, starred Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with presumably HDR10 (at least) form of high dynamic range and perhaps Dolby Atmos sound as well as the original DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless mix found on the previous release(s).  The release will not include a Blu-ray and only the 4K UHD Blu-ray format disc.  This will however include both the theatrical (91 min) and UNRATED edition (97 min) on the same 4K disc and they’re both obviously in 4K.

You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for preorder over at Amazon.  Also, you can order the 4K directly via the ShoutFactory.com store and get a bonus poster [while supplies last].  The bonus materials for this release are said to be “currently in progress” so, stay tuned for an update on that later along with the final tech specs.
