The Place Beyond The Pines on 4K in October

The 2012 film The Place Beyond the Pines is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 21st via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). Derek Cianfrance directed and co-wrote the flick. It starred Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, and Ray Liotta. It’s worth noting that this movie remains “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, based on critics’ reviews.

The motion picture has received a new 4K restoration approved by Director/Co-Writer Derek Cianfrance. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio in SDR [without HDR], accompanied by lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound. The 2-disc set will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon and directly via the ShoutFactory website. The bonus materials set to be included with the release are listed below, sorted by disc.

2011 film Drive comes to 4K in SteelBook this August

The 2011 action/drama film Drive is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in SteelBook form on August 27th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, starred Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks, Oscar Isaac, Christina Hendricks, and Ron Perlman. Below is a glimpse at the entire packaging and disc art for this upcoming SteelBook.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook is now available for preorder at Amazon and retailer Walmart. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital copy. “First Man” starring Ryan Gosling on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in January

The 2018 film “First Man” starring Ryan Gosling is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 22nd, 2019 via Universal. This tells the story of NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon. The film, directed by Damien Chazelle, features a supporting cast of Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Christopher Abbott, and Ciarán Hinds.

Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with both Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound (on a BD-100). Tech specs for the Blu-ray release include 1080p video in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound (on a BD-50). Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and a Digital Copy on each. RUMOR: “First Man” with Ryan Gosling is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in January

RUMOR: The 2018 film “First Man” starring Ryan Gosling is apparently coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 22nd, 2019 via Universal – according to an early alert to retailers. The film, directed by Damien Chazelle, co-stars Claire FoyJason ClarkeKyle Chandler, Corey StollPatrick Fugit, and Christopher Abbott. The tech specs and bonus materials for the releases have not yet been detailed, as this is just a rumor at this point, but stay tuned for updates. It is known (from the artwork) that the releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K including a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray including a DVD, and both getting a Digital Copy of the film.  PRE-ORDER listings are available for 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray over at Amazon and Best Buy. As with all rumors, take this with a “grain of salt” so-to-speak until the title is officially announced by the studio (Universal).
