Battle Beyond the Stars comes to 4K in July

The 1980 Sci-Fi cult classic “Battle Beyond the Stars arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 15th via Scream Factory. Jimmy T. Murakami and Roger Corman directed the film. Corman did not originally take credit for co-directing, but did take executive producer credit. The movie starred Richard Thomas, Robert Vaughn, John Saxon, George Peppard, Sybil Danning, and Darlanne Fluegel.

The movie has received a new 4K scan of the original camera negative. The tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range. It will consist of lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, featuring the new 4K scan.

The Manchurian Candidate 2004 remake on 4K in March

The 2004 remake of “The Manchurian Candidate” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 19th via KL Studio Classics.  The film, directed by Jonathan Demme, starred Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Liev Schreiber, Jeffrey Wright, Jon Voight, Roger Corman, Paul Lazar, Bill Irwin, and Anthony Mackie.  It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes, based on critic reviews.

This features a new master from a 4K Scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and lossless 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo audio, on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included (on a BD-50).

Rock ‘N’ Roll High School Anniversary Blu-ray

The 1979 film Rock ‘N’ Roll High School is getting a “40th Anniversary Edition” Steelbook release to Blu-ray Disc on November 19th via Shout! Factory. The film, executive produced by Roger Corman, featured a cast of P.J. SolesVincent Van PattenClint Howard, Dey YoungMary Woronov, Paul Bartel, Don SteeleDick Miller, and punk band the Ramones. Tech specs for this release include 1080p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative. UPDATE: I’ve just confirmed that audio on this release includes DTS-HD Master Audio Mono and Stereo sound. The 40th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Steelbook is now available to pre-order over at Amazon and directly via the Shout! Factory store. 1993 film “Philadelphia” starring Tom Hanks on 4K UHD Blu-ray in November

The 1993 Jonathan Demme directed film Philadelphia starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 27th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, according to an early alert to retailers. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed, but stay tuned for updates.

UPDATE: This will come in the form of a “25th Anniversary Edition” release as the cover art (pictured above) shows. Still no info yet regarding tech specs or bonus materials. The title is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon.
