The 1983 film Uncommon Valor gets a 4K in March

Ted Kotcheff directed the movie. It starred Gene Hackman, Fred Ward, Reb Brown, Randall “Tex” Cobb, Patrick Swayze, Harold Sylvester, and Robert Stack.

The motion picture has received a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) and lossless (or possibly uncompressed) sound, on a BD-100 disc. This 2-disc set will be a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon and directly via Kino Lorber’s website. Bonus materials included with the release are listed below, sorted by disc.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound, on a BD-66 disc. The release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, as well as a digital copy of the film. EDITORIAL NOTE: This movie has previously been released on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format as a part of what was called “ZAZ: The Collection!,” released back in 2024. That box set has since gone OOP (out of print) and goes for crazy prices. You can find the other two films in that set are each coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray individually. First, on November 4th, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray. Then, on December 9th, Top Secret! will also come to 4K UHD Blu-ray. Those titles are both now available for preorder at Amazon.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do America on Blu-ray December

The 1996 animated motion picture Beavis and Butt-Head Do America is finally coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 7th via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, a spin-off of the MTV TV show [“Beavis & Butt-Head”], celebrating its 25th anniversary, was co-written & co-directed by creator Mike Judge, who also lent his voice talents to the lead characters and a few others. The movie also featured the voice talents of Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Robert Stack, and Cloris Leachman.

UPDATE: The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD video presentation and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound mix, as well as a French Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo mix. As for extras, all of the special features from the previous DVD release are being ported over. The release will also come with a digital code (copy) of the film, which is compatible with iTunes [AppleTV] and VUDU. You can now find the Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.

The Transformers The Movie from 1986 on 4K in August

The 1986 animated film The Transformers: The Movie is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 3rd, via Shout! Factory, in a 35th Anniversary Limited Edition SteelBook. The film, directed by Nelson Shin, featured the voice talents of Peter Cullen, Eric Idle, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Robert Stack, Frank Welker, and Orson Welles. The movie has received a new restoration from a new 4K transfer. Tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes. The release will also include a Blu-ray of the film in HD, presented in the 1.33:1 full-frame aspect ratio and DTS-HD MA 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo sound mixes.

NOTE: Despite the 4K UHD Blu-ray format being mostly region-free, this release could perhaps be region A locked, it appears. However, it has been stated that there will be both a standard and a SteelBook 4K UHD Blu-ray releases available in both the US and UK this September. Specifically, on September 28th you’ll see those 4K physical versions released to further celebrate the 35th anniversary.
