1992 film Sneakers on 4K and Blu-ray in April

The 1992 film “Sneakers” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Special Edition on April 22nd via KL Studio Classics. The film was directed and co-written by Phil Alden Robinson. It starred Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, Dan Aykroyd, and the late River Phoenix. It also featured Ben Kingsley, Phil Alden Robinson, and Mary McDonnell. Additionally, David Stathairn and James Earl Jones were in the cast. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is still “Certified Fresh” (by critics) on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie has received a new master, from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound, on a BD-100 disc. Tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

1986 Rob Reiner film Stand By Me on 4K in August

The 1986 Rob Reiner directed film “Stand By Me“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 27th via Sony. The film, based on a Stephen King novella (“The Body”), starred Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, Kiefer Sutherland, and featured Richard Dreyfuss as the narrator (“The Writer”). Tech specs for the release include newly 4K scanned video from the original camera negative with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound, along with lossless 5.1 and original theatrical Mono. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a both a Blu-ray included as well as a digital copy of the film.
