The 2018 film “The Predator” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on December 18th via Fox. The film, directed by Shane Black, features a cast of Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Thomas Jane, Alfie Allen, Augusto Aguilera, and Jake Busey.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include 2160p in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The Blu-ray tech specs include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and both getting a Digital Copy of the film included. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon. Bonus materials set to be included on both versions are listed below.
- Deleted Scenes
- A Touch of Black
- Predator Evolution
- The Takedown Team
- Predator Catch-Up
It’s also worth noting that there will be an Exclusive Steelbook available for the 4K release over at Best Buy. Further below, after the break, you can find the official announcement for the home video releases of this film – including a new bundled box set called “Predator 4-Movie Collection” that is coming to both 4K and Blu-ray on the exact same date.
In an early alert to retailers we’ve got an indication when to expect the new 2018 Shane Black directed film “The Predator” on both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc, and that is sometime this winter (before the year end) via Fox Home Entertainment. This isn’t even a rumor, it’s stated in the working (not final) cover art pictured above. The film just hit theaters today, so go out and give it a watch tonight. No information yet regarding the technical specs or bonus materials for either the 4K or Blu-ray releases. I’d personally speculate you’ll see this get a December release, but stay tuned for any rumors or official update on the exact release date.
It is known that retailer Best Buy will be getting an Exclusive Steelbook for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release of the film (pictured below). You can PRE-ORDER this 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook now over at Best Buy. Again, no exact release date has been announced (yet). You can also PRE-ORDER the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc versions of the film over at retailer Best Buy. Lastly, it’s worth noting that Amazon and other retailers don’t seem to be listing it yet. Below, after the break, you can find the artwork (perhaps not finalized) for the 4K Steelbook and Blu-ray versions of the film.
I was browsing through my local Walmart this morning, passing by the electronics section, when I noticed some titles at the main display were on sale for prices considerably cheaper than at other retailers. Long story short here: it turns out that “Predator“ on 4K UHD Blu-ray is just $17.96 (in store ONLY) and “Bad Boys I & II“ on 4K UHD Blu-ray set is just $27.96 (a penny cheaper online). It’s odd for “Predator” though, because Walmart’s website shows the price online as $19.89 online (the same as another retailer). So that title must be only available for that price if you pick it up in the store.
It sure seems that Fox Home Entertainment also plans to bring a “Predator 3-Movie Collection” to 4K UHD Blu-ray on the same date as the first film, August 7th. The collection will include the films “Predator” (1987), “Predator 2” (1990), and “Predators” (2010). Those films were directed by John McTiernan, Stephen Hopkins, and Nimród Antal. Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed, as the studio has yet to even officially announce either this or the individual release of the first film – as I had previously reported on.
I actually found this just browsing around, and at this point I wouldn’t even call it a “rumor” anymore, as we well know that the first film is coming, but now get a confirmation (of sorts) via a PRE-ORDER listing over at Amazon for this, carrying the exact same release date (8/7). Stay tuned for further updates. Also remember that the first film, “Predator“, is (as mentioned) getting its own individual release on 4K UHD Blu-ray.
UPDATE: It appears that we are going to also see individual releases for both sequels “Predator 2” and “Predators” on 4K UHD Blu-ray as well. No pre-order listings are available yet on Amazon, but stay tuned for an update when they become available. The artwork for the two titles can be found below.
As I had previously reported (back on June 14th in a “rumor”), it now is seeming more like we (U.S. consumers) are definitely going to be getting the 1987 John McTiernan directed film “Predator” released on 4K UHD Blu-ray via Fox Home Entertainment. One major thing that’s pushing this past the point of “rumor” is the fact we now have U.S. cover art depicted on Amazon (directly, above). In fact, I’m not even featuring an image for the news story header to prove this. So, take that for what it’s worth.
The release date retailers are giving for the release is August 7th. A PRE-ORDER listing, where the cover art can be found, is available now over at Amazon. Stay tuned later this month perhaps for an official press release to come out from the studio (Fox).
Also, be on the lookout for me posting the Screenshots from the previous 2010 Blu-ray Disc release of the film soon. Lastly, for those who don’t want to visit Amazon to view it, you’ll find the U.S. cover art further below after the break.
