The Da Vinci Code gets a 4K SteelBook release in May

The Da Vinci Code DVD set featuring two discs, with packaging that includes artistic images and a decorative design, showcasing a rose and stills from the film.

Ron Howard directed the film, based on the novel [of the same title] written by Dan Brown. It starred Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina, Jürgen Prochnow, Paul Bettany, and Jean Reno.

The tech specs for the 20th Anniversary Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook included a 2160p video presentation in the [intended] 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range, along with Dolby Atmos and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound.

UPDATED: The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook is now available for preorder at Amazon.

The release will arrive as a 3-disc set, including a Blu-ray with bonus materials, listed below. Also, the two different versions of the film will be housed on two separate 4K UHD Blu-ray discs, as shown below.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release will be a 2-disc set, as a “combo pack,” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital code (copy) compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 2003 film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on August 5th via Disney (20th Century Studios). Peter Weir directed and co-wrote the movie. It starred Russell Crowe, Paul Bettany, James D’Arcy, Chris Larkin, and Billy Boyd. It’s certainly worth noting that, even to this day, this movie is “Certified Fresh” by critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has been restored and remastered from the original elements. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. It will also include Dolby Atmos sounds. The 2-disc release will be a “combo pack” also featuring its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. The release will also include a digital copy compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 2001 film A Knight’s Tale arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on May 20th via Sony Pictures Home EntertainmentBrian Helgeland wrote and directed the movie, which starred Heath Ledger, Mark Addy, Rufus Sewell, Paul Bettany, and Alan Tudyk.

This 4K release will include the Theatrical Version – 132 min (PG-13) and Extended Version – 144 min (Unrated). Both versions have received a restoration from the original camera negative. The picture & audio were approved by the director (Brian Helgeland). The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10). Robert Zemeckis film Here comes to Blu-ray in January

The 2024 film “Here” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on January 21st via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film was directed and co-written by Robert Zemeckis. It stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Paul Bettany, and Kelly Reilly.

The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release includes a digital copy compatible with Movies Anywhere. You can now find the Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon. Both “Captain America” sequels on 4K UHD Blu-ray late April

 

The two Marvel Studios sequels Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War are both coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 23rd, via Disney – according to an early alert to retailers. The titles had been said to be coming but we now finally get them both listed with release date and pre-order listings for each over at Best Buy.

UPDATE: The two titles on 4K are both now listed for pre-order over at Amazon – HERE and HERE. Those listings even include glimpses at the back of the packaging where we get the tech specs. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will be presented in the 2.40:1 aspect (as originally on Blu-ray), while “Captain America: Civil War” will be presented in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio (unlike the original Blu-ray). Both films will receive HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The bonus materials set to be included for each film can be found on the original Blu-ray releases. No new extras will be included on the 4K discs.

Each release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc included along with a digital copy of the film.

There will also be Steelbook releases for both of the films on 4K which will be Best Buy exclusives. You can’t pre-order those yet but they have placeholder pages HERE and HERE.
