The Mortal Kombat Kollection comes to 4K in June

The “kollection” includes the movies “Mortal Kombat” (1995) and “Mortal Kombat: Annihilation” (1997), each debuting on 4K UHD Blu-ray. Paul W.S. Anderson directed Mortal Kombat, which starred Christopher Lambert, Robin Shou, Linden Ashby, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, Trevor Goddard, and Talisa Soto. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was directed by John R. Leonetti. The second film starred Robin Shou, Talisa Soto, James Remar, Sandra Hess, Lynn ‘Red’ Williams, Brian Thompson, Irina Pantaeva, and Chris Conrad.

Each movie has received a new 4K restoration by Arrow Films from the original camera negatives. The director of each film approved the presentations. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio [for each film] with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range, along with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound. The 2-disc set will feature each movie on its own individual 4K disc.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Limited Edition are now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can preorder directly via Arrow Video [US] and at the MVD Shop. The physical extras included with the set(s) are shown and listed below.

Mortal Kombat Legends Battle of the Realms 4K and Blu-ray

The 2021 Warner Bros. Animation original film “Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on August 31st, via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, based on the popular video game franchise (“Mortal Kombat”), was directed by Ethan Spaulding. This film also is the sequel to Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge from 2020 and will feature some of the same voice cast. The full voice cast here includes Joel McHale, Jennifer Carpenter, Jordan Rodrigues, Patrick Seitz, Artt Butler, Robin Atkin Downes, Dave B. Mitchell, Ikè Amadi, Grey Griffin, Fred TatascioreMatthew Mercer, Bayardo De Murguia, Matt Yang King, Paul Nakauchi, Emily O’Brien, and Debra Wilson.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray will both come with a digital code (copy of the film). Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation and the same DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound mix. The 4K releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include the Blu-ray Disc counterpart.

Mortal Kombat 2021 comes to 4K and Blu-ray in July

The 2021 version of the film “Mortal Kombat” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 13th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, based on the popular video game franchise of the same title, directed by Simon McQuoid, stars Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 4K video presentation with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation and Dolby Atmos sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will come with its Blu-ray counterpart. Both versions will each include a digital code (copy) of the film.
