An “Underworld: Limited Edition 5-Movie Collection“ will officially be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 5th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. A total of four out of five of the films starred Kate Beckinsale, and the third film starred Rhonda Mitra. The set will include the following five films in the franchise:
“Underworld: Evolution” (2006)
“Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” (2009)
“Underworld: Awakening” (2012)
“Underworld: Blood Wars” (2016)
This will be the first time that 3 of the films have ever been available on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format, as the first and last films have been the only ones that were previously released. The tech specs for the releases of each of the films include 2160p presentations in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The set will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that each film will include a Blu-ray Disc counterpart as well as digital codes (copies) for each film.
The 2020 film “Dolittle” starring Robert Downey, Jr. is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on April 7th, via Universal. The film, based on the story of “Dr. Dolittle” & directed by Stephen Gaghan, co-starred/featured the voice talents of Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Jim Broadbent, Emma Thompson, Rami Malek, John Cena, Kumail Nanjiani, Octavia Spencer, Tom Holland, Craig Robinson, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez, and Marion Cotillard. The tech specs for the 4K include video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range with Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting the DVD, and each including a digital code (copy) of the film. 2019 BBC produced TV miniseries “Good Omens“ starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen is coming to Blu-ray Disc on October 1st via BBC Studios, according to retail listings. As seen on Amazon Prime Video, the miniseries is based on the book written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. This critically-acclaimed miniseries features a supporting cast of Adria Arjona, Jack Whitehall, Michael McKean, Jon Hamm, Sam Taylor Buck, and the voice of Frances McDormand. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed, but stay tuned for a later update on that. You can already find the Blu-ray available for pre-order over at Amazon. Lastly, despite the fact it is available in 4K (on Amazon Prime Video) it seems doubtful that you’ll see this get a 4K UHD Blu-ray release.
