The 1987 film Innerspace limited edition 4K in April

The 1987 sci-fi/comedy “Innerspace” will get both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Limited Edition releases on April 28th via Arrow Video. Each release will be distributed stateside by MVD Entertainment Group.

Joe Dante directed the movie, which Steven Spielberg produced. It starred Dennis Quaid, Martin Short, and Meg Ryan. The supporting cast included Kevin McCarthy, Fiona Lewis, Vernon Wells, Robert Picardo, Wendy Schaal, Harold Sylvester, and Henry Gibson.

It has received a new restoration from the original 35mm negative (by Arrow Films), approved by director Joe Dante. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range, along with Dolby Atmos, as well as lossless 2.0 stereo, and a 4.0 from the 70mm 6-track mix. Tech specs for the Blu-ray version include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio along with Dolby Atmos, as well as both lossless 2.0 and 4.0 sound mixes.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray Limited Edition and Blu-ray Limited Edition sets are now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can find them available for preorder directly via Arrow Video’s website or the MVD Shop.

“Top Gun” with Tom Cruise lands on 4K in May

The 1986 film “Top Gun“ starring Tom Cruise is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in a big way on May 19th, via Paramount. The film, directed by the late Tony Scott, is finally about to receive a sequel with “Top Gun: Maverick“ later this year and that’s likely why this release is timed for its theatrical release. Top Gun co-starred Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards, Tom Skerritt, Michael Ironside, Tim Robbins, Meg Ryan, and Val Kilmer.

The release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film included. You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release available for preorder over at Amazon and a placeholder page listed over at retailer Best Buy. It’s certainly worth noting that the film will be receiving a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release as well, available at all retailers, and now up for preorder over at Amazon and at retailer Best Buy. UPDATE: The tech specs and bonus materials for the release have been unveiled via the Amazon listing now with the back of the package art. Tech specs include video in HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The bonus materials will include some content in 4K on the 4K disc as well as on the original Blu-ray Disc release which comes with it. Oliver Stone film The Doors comes to 4K July 23rd

The 1991 Oliver Stone directed film “The Doors“ starring Val Kilmer is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 23rd via Lionsgate, according to an early alert to retailers. The film co-starred Meg Ryan, Kyle MacLachlan, Frank Whaley, Kevin Dillon, Michael Wincott, and Michael Madsen. There are no details yet regarding the tech specs on this 4K release. It is however known that the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray and a digital copy of the film. Bonus materials set to be included on the release have not yet been detailed. UPDATE: The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon and at retailer Best Buy. Tech specs for the release include 2160p video with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The film has been remastered from the original negative that was scanned at 4K resolution. The color grading was overseen by the film’s director Oliver Stone. Bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.
