Scott Pilgrim vs. the World on 4K UHD Blu-ray in July

According to retailers, the 2010 film “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 6th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film, based on the “Scott Pilgrim” graphic novels, was directed by Edgar Wright and starred Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Alison Pill, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman, Ellen Wong, Johnny Simmons, Mark Webber, Brie Larson, Mae Whitman, Brandon Routh, and Chris Evans.

UPDATE: The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film.

You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray listed to preorder over at Amazon. There will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook exclusive to retailer Best Buy (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.

RUMOR: “Birds of Prey” on 4K and Blu-ray May

The 2020 film “Birds of Prey” starring Margot Robbie, as “Harley Quinn”, appears to be coming to physical media on both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc, via Warner, on May 12th – according to retailers. This comes after the film was recently released early digitally when theaters closed during these strange times we currently are living in. The film, directed by Cathy Yan, co-stars Rosie Perez, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Ella Jay Basco, Chris Messina, and Ewan McGregor. The tech specs for the releases have not yet been detailed but it is believed that the 4K will receive both HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range as well as Dolby Atmos sound. The 4K it is known from the artwork (pictured above) will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray and a digital code (copy) of the film included. So far, that’s all based on retail sources and has not yet been officially announced by the studio (Warner), making it technically a RUMOR. Gemini Man with Will Smith on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2019 Ang Lee directed Action/Sci-Fi film “Gemini Man” starring Will Smith is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 14th, 2020 via Paramount. The film co-stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, and Benedict Wong. Tech specs for the 4K release include HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range at 60 frames per second in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. NOTE: This is the first release to feature Dolby Vision at 60fps, versus the traditional 24fps. Tech specs for the Blu-ray have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting the Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and each getting a digital code (copy of the film) included.
