The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will receive its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and come with a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon. Amazon will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray Giftset (as pictured below) which is now available for preorder, oddly enough.

2005 film V for Vendetta comes to 4K in November

v_for_vendetta_4k– Amazon Commissions Earned –

The 2005 film adaptation of “V for Vendetta” starring Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 3rd, via Warner, according to sources. The film, directed by James McTeigue & based on the graphic novel (of the same title), had a screenplay adapted by The WachowskisLana Wachowski & Lilly Wachowski — best known for both writing & directing “The Matrix” (1999). The film co-starred Stephen Rea, Stephen Fry, Rupert Graves, Tim Pigott-Smith, and John Hurt. The standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will come with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film.

UPDATE: the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray is now listed for preorder over at Amazon.

Now, the reason that I kept calling that version the standard 4K is because there will also be an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray Giftset available over at Amazon which is already up and available for preorder (pictured below). This exclusive gift set seems to include not only cool packaging but also a collectible booklet about the film itself.

v_for_vendetta_4k_giftsetUPDATE: Just as I had speculated, there will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook exclusive to retailer Best Buy available for this film (pictured below) which is now listed for preorder.

v_for_vendetta_4k_steelbookFinal UPDATE: This title has now been officially announced and you can find more information in another post HERE on the site.

“The Matrix Trilogy” 4K Steelbook at Best Buy in June

the_matrix_trilogy_4k_steelbook

It appears The Matrix Trilogy will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook release on June 4th via Warner at retailer Best Buy. The films in the trilogy, already available individually on the 4K format, included:

  • “The Matrix” (1999)
  • “The Matrix Reloaded” (2003)
  • “The Matrix Revolutions” (2003)

The 3-disc set will include all three films in the trilogy in just their 4K versions only with no Blu-ray Disc counterparts. Digital copies of the films are said to be included. I’m not sure if this means these will lack bonus materials or not, as they are housed on the Blu-ray Disc for the first film. The first film, originally released back in 1999, is now celebrating its 20th anniversary. So, that’s likely the marketing choice made here by Warner. Considering the rather expensive price tag, I think only the ultimate fans will be making a purchase of the set. That being said, the 4K Steelbook set is now available for pre-order over at Best Buy.

“Matrix Reloaded” and “Matrix Revolutions” on 4K UHD Blu-ray October

the_matrix_reloaded_4kthe_matrix_revolutions_4k

Both of The Wachowskis‘ 2003 sequels The Matrix Reloaded” and The Matrix Revolutions starring Keanu Reeves are coming INDIVIDUALLY to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 2nd via Warner. This news comes in an early alert to retailers, namely Amazon. Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed, but you can likely expect them to be identical to the first film (already available on 4K). Still, stay tuned for official word on all that. The two films are both available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon. Click on their titles or artwork above for links.

“The Matrix Trilogy” with Keanu Reeves is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in October

the_matrix_trilogy_4k.jpg
The Wachowskis‘ “The Matrix Trilogy” starring Keanu Reeves is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 2nd via Warner. This news comes in an early alert to retailers. The box set will include the following films:

  • “The Matrix” (1999)
  • “Matrix Reloaded” (2003) – NEW to 4K!
  • “Matrix Revolutions” (2003) – NEW to 4K!

Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed, but if the first film (already available on 4K) is any indication, I’d say you can expect the two sequels to get Dolby Vision, HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. This has not yet been announced (rather confirmed). As you’ll notice on the cover art it only states HDR, with no indication of Dolby Vision. However, Warner never indicates that on that part. Just worth pointing out. The Matrix Trilogy on 4K UHD Blu-ray is available now for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon, but not yet at Best Buy. Lastly, be sure to check out our review of the first film, The Matrix (as mentioned) already available on 4K. Stay tuned for official announcements regarding this box set.

UPDATE: These films will be released individually on 4K UHD Blu-ray in both standard and Steelbook packaging. Info about the standard individual releases can be found HERE, and information about the Best Buy Exclusive Steelbooks can be found HERE.
