The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The 4K release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available to preorder at Amazon and Walmart. It appears that these bonus materials will be included, as Digital Exclusive Extras:

Small Soldiers comes to 4K SteelBook in July

The 1998 film “Small Soldiers” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on July 22nd via Paramount Home Media Distribution. Joe Dante directed this movie, which Adam Rifkin co-wrote. It starred Kirsten Dunst, David Cross, Jay Mohr, Denis Leary, Kevin Dunn, Dick Miller, and Phil Hartman.

The tech specs for the 4K release have yet to be detailed. But, you should expect at least a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio in at least HDR10 and with a lossless 5.1 surround sound mix. Stay tuned for an update on the exact tech specs as more information becomes available. This 4K SteelBook 2-disc release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Although yet to be confirmed, a digital should also be included. Stay tuned for verification on that and the tech specs.

You can’t preorder this 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook yet at Amazon or Walmart. Still, they both already have listings, which should turn into functional preorders very soon. Again, stay tuned for an update on that as well. Below is a glimpse of the artwork, packaging, and discs.

The 2000 film Bring It On comes to 4K in June

The 2000 film Bring It On will come to 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 24th via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). Peyton Reed directed this movie, which starred Kirsten Dunst, Gabrielle Union, and Eliza Dushku. Additionally, it co-starred Jesse Bradford, Clare Kramer, Nicole Bilderback, Tsianina Joelson, and Rini Bell. It’s worth noting that this film is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The movie has received a new 4K transfer from the 35mm original camera negative. Director Peyton Reed approved this. The 4K tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range. The audio will be presented in lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 1994 film Little Women is coming to 4K in November

The 1994 film adaptation of “Little Women” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 19th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Gillian Armstrong, starred Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, Susan Sarandon, Gabriel Byrne, Trini Alvarado, Christian Bale, Eric Stoltz, and John Neville.

This includes a new scan from the original camera negative. Tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 channel surround sound mixes. The Power of the Dog gets Criterion 4K and Blu-ray

The 2021 film “The Power of the Dog” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 8th via The Criterion Collection.  The film (as seen on Netflix), directed and adapted to screenplay by Jane Campion, stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Kirsten Dunst.  It’s certainly worth noting that, at the time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has received a 4K DI (digital intermediate) master which was approved by the director (Jane Campion).  The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.28:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 or Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.28:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning it will be a 2-disc set with its Blu-ray counterpart.

The 1998 film “Small Soldiers” directed by Joe Dante is coming to Blu-ray Disc, for the very first time in North America, on February 2nd, 2021, via Paramount. The movie was an action, adventure, comedy that used a combination of both live-action video and CG animation. It featured a (live-action) cast of Kirsten Dunst, Gregory Smith, Jacob Smith, Phil Hartman, Wendy Schaal, David Cross, Denis Leary, and Dick Miller. The movie also featured a legendary voice cast that included Tommy Lee Jones, Frank Langella, Bruce Dern, Jim Brown, George Kennedy, Clint Walker, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Christina Ricci.

Cameron Crowe film Elizabethtown on Blu-ray in February

The 2005 Cameron Crowe film “Elizabethtown” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc as a Paramount Presents release on February 9th, 2021, via Paramount. This will be spine #14 in the Paramount Presents series. The film, written & directed by Cameron Crowe, will be making its debut on the Blu-ray Disc format through this release. This romantic comedy starred Kirsten Dunst, Orlando Bloom, Susan Sarandon, Alec Baldwin, Judy Greer, and Jessica Biel. Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but you can for sure expect it to include a 1080p HD presentation and 5.1 lossless surround sound. The movie has received a new 4K transfer that was supervised by the film’s director (Crowe). The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. The Blu-ray is now available to preorder over at Amazon. Bonus materials set to be included on this release, in addition to the fold-out poster slipcover packaging (pictured below) are listed below.
