Dark City is getting a standard 4K in November

The 1998 movie “Dark City” will get standard edition 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases on November 18th via Arrow Video. Alex Proyas directed and co-wrote the film. The movie starred Rufus Sewell, William Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Connelly, and Richard O’Brien. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes. NOTE: This release only includes the Director’s Cut and not the theatrical cut.

The movie has received a 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative. Director of photography Dariusz Wolski approved this. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10. It will consist of Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround, and 2.0 stereo lossless sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. It will also include Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD MA 5.1, and 2.0 sound.

You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray standard editions available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can preorder the 4K or Blu-ray standard editions directly via Arrow Video’s website. EDITORIAL NOTE: The 2025 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Limited Editions, previously released, have now gone out of print (OOP). So, these standard 4K and Blu-ray versions will be a welcome release for those who didn’t grab the limited edition(s).

Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 on Blu-ray in February

The 2024 film “Juror #2” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on February 4th via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The film was directed and produced by Clint Eastwood. The cast includes Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, Kiefer Sutherland, Chris Messina, Gabriel Basso, Zoey Deutch, Cedric Yarbrough, Leslie Bibb, Amy Aquino, and Adrienne C. Moore. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come with a digital copy, presumed compatible with Movies Anywhere. No bonus materials will be included with this release. 1987 film The Lost Boys comes to 4K in September

The 1987 film “The Lost Boys” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 20th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, according to retailers.  The film, celebrating its 35th anniversary, directed by Joel Schumacher, starred Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Alex Winter, Kiefer Sutherland, Brooke McCarter, Billy Wirth, Jami Gertz, Jamison Newlander, Dianne Wiest, Barnard Hughes, and Edward Herrmann.

Tech specs for the release appear to include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.  The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film.

UPDATE:  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.  You also can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray listed for preorder over at retailer Best Buy.  It’s certainly worth noting that Best Buy will be also getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) which is also now available for preorder.

The TV series Creepshow: Season 2 is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 7th, via RLJE Films. The original TV series, as seen on Shudder, is executive produced by makeup special effects legend Greg Nicotero. The cast for season 2 included Kevin Dillon, Ted Raimi, Ali Larter, Thomas Howell, Iman Benson, Josh McDermitt, Ashley Laurence, Keith David, Ryan Kwanten, Breckin Meyer, Molly Ringwald, Eric Edelstein, Barbara Crampton, Denise Crosby, Justin Long, D’Arcy Carden, Kiefer Sutherland, Joey King, Anna Camp, and Adam Pally.

1994 film The Cowboy Way comes to Blu-ray in February

The 1994 film The Cowboy Way” starring Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland is coming to Blu-ray Disc, for the first time, on February 16th, 2021, via Mill Creek Entertainment. The film, directed by Gregg Champion, co-starred Dylan McDermott, Ernie Hudson, Cara Buono, Marg Helgenberger, Tomas Milian, and Luis Guzmán. Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed and nor have bonus materials — if any will be included. Stay tuned for a possible update on that.
