The 1995 film Dead Man is coming to 4K in January

This has received a 4K digital restoration, supervised and approved by director Jim Jarmusch. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a black and white 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, in SDR (standard dynamic range), with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 surround sound. This 2-disc set will come as a “combo pack” featuring its Blu-ray counterpart.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can preorder directly via the Criterion website. The bonus materials set to be included with the release are listed below.

1990 John Waters film Cry-Baby comes to 4K in April

The 1990 film “Cry-Baby” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Special Edition on April 30th via KL Studio Classics (Kino Lorber). The film, written and directed by John Waters, starred Johnny Depp, Amy Locane, Traci LordsIggy PopRicki LakeSusan TyrrellKim McGuireWillem Dafoe, and Patricia Hearst.

This has received a brand new master (of the Theatrical Cut), taken from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. Fret not, the Director’s Cut will be included in HD on the second disc and has been sourced from the same 4K scan and a 4K scan of the interpositive of the Director’s Cut (specifically). Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and lossless audio, on a BD-100 disc. And, tech specs for the Blu-ray (Special Edition) include a 1080p HD video presentation (from that same new master) in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with lossless audio, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc. The Blu-ray release will include both cuts of the film on one disc.

“The Dead Don’t Die” on Blu-ray in September

The 2019 Jim Jarmusch film The Dead Don’t Die is coming to Blu-ray Disc on September 10th via Universal, according to early retailer alerts. The film, a comedy involving zombies, features an all-star cast of Bill MurrayAdam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Rosie PerezCarol KaneIggy Pop, Sara DriverRZA, Selena Gomez, and Tom Waits. Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. It is known that the release will come with a digital copy of the film. You can already find the Blu-ray available for pre-order over at Amazon and is listed over at retailer Best Buy (with release date). Lastly, sadly there does not appear to be a 4K physical release of this film planned.
