The Return of the Pink Panther gets a 4K in March

The movie has received a 4K scan of the original 35mm camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) with lossless sound, on a BD-100 disc. The audio should be the original Mono, most likely in a 2-channel container. The 2-disc release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is not yet available for preorder at Amazon, but stay tuned for an update. In the meantime, though, you can preorder directly via Kino Lorber’s website. The bonus materials included with the release are listed below, sorted by disc.

The first movie features a new 4K scan of the 35mm original Technirama camera negative. The other films feature new 4K scans from the 35mm original camera negative(s). The tech specs for each film include a 2160p video presentation in 2.20:1, 2.39:1, and 2.35:1 aspect ratios, in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), with lossless 5.1 and 2.0 sound, each on a BD-100 disc. Individually, these releases will be a 2-disc “combo pack” with their Blu-ray Disc counterpart(s) included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray releases of “The Pink Panther” (1963), “A Shot in the Dark,” “The Pink Panther Strikes Again,” and “Revenge of the Pink Panther” are now individually available for preorder at Amazon. Blu-ray Special Edition versions of these films will also be available. Additionally, you can preorder directly via the Kino Lorber website.

1955 film The Ladykillers comes to 4K in September

The 1955 film “The Ladykillers” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray Disc on September 24th via KL Studio Classics. The film, directed by Alexander Mackendrick, starred Alec GuinnessPeter SellersHerbert LomCecil ParkerDanny GreenJack Warner, and Katie Johnson.

The releases both come from a 2020 restoration by StudioCanal. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p Black & White video presentation in the original 1.37:1 and 1.66:1 matted aspect ratios with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and lossless Mono sound, on a 100 GB disc. Tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include a 1080p HD Black & White video presentation in the original 1.37:1 and 1.66:1 matted aspect ratios with lossless Mono sound, on a 50 GB disc. The Dead Zone Collector’s Edition Blu-ray in July

The 1983 film adaptation of Stephen King‘s The Dead Zone starring Christopher Walken will be getting a “Collector’s Edition” Blu-ray Disc release on July 27th via Scream Factory. The film, directed by David Cronenberg, co-starred Brooke Adams, Tom Skerritt, Herbert Lom, Anthony Zerbe, and Martin Sheen.

The movie has received a NEW 2021 4K scan of the original camera negative” according to Shout! Factory. So far, the exact tech specs have not yet been fully detailed, aside from being in 1080p HD and in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio, but stay tuned for an update on what sound configuration(s) it will receive. You can find the Collector’s Edition Blu-ray available for preorder now over at Amazon as well as directly via ShoutFactory.com. Today they [Shout!
