Shin Godzilla comes to 4K and Blu-ray in October

The 2016 film “Shin Godzilla” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray, reportedly in October via GKIDS (distributed by Shout! Studios). Shinji Higuchi and Hideaki Anno co-directed the film. The movie has received a new 4K remaster.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range. It will also include the original Japanese language in lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 3.1 (with English subtitles) as well as the English dub, also in DTS-HD MA 3.1 sound. The 4K will be presented on a BD-100 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and both Japanese and English DTS-HD MA 3.1 sound, with English subtitles, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come as a 3-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, as well as a second Blu-ray for bonus materials. The Blu-ray will come as a 2-disc set with a second Blu-ray for extras.

You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray now available for preorder at online retailer GRUV. These are not yet available at Amazon for preorder, but stay tuned for an update. Additionally, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray available to preorder at retailer Walmart.

Deluxe Collector’s Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray / Blu-ray

There will also be a 4-disc 4K UHD Blu-ray Deluxe Collector’s Edition available (directly via Godzilla.com website), which is now available for preorder. This will include an additional Blu-ray featuring the ORTHOchromatic version of the film (in HD), and some physical extras as well. Those details about the 4th “Black Disc” are below.

Anime The First Slam Dunk comes to 4K in February

The 2022 Anime film “The First Slam Dunk“ will soon be available on 4K UHD Blu-ray. It will be released on February 18th via GKIDS and Shout! Studios. The Japanese animated film was written & directed by Takehiko Inoue. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with SDR (standard dynamic range) and Dolby Atmos in both Japanese and English languages. The release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon. You can also preorder directly via the Shout! Arcane Season One comes to 4K and Blu-ray in October

The animated TV series “Arcade: League of Legends – Season One” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, Blu-ray Disc SteelBook, and standard Blu-ray Disc on October 8th via GKIDS / Shout! Factory. The show, as seen on Netflix, features the voice talents of Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, Kevin Alejandro, Jason Spisak, Harry Lloyd, Toks Olagundoye, JB Blanc, Amirah Vann, Katie Leung, and Mia Sinclair Jenness. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and uncompressed audio (likely in 2.0 Stereo, although not yet confirmed), spanning across a 3-disc set. Tech specs for the Blu-ray releases include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio and uncompressed audio, spanning a 3-disc set. Studio Ghibli film Earwig and the Witch on Blu-ray in April

The 2020 Studio Ghibli animated feature film “Earwig and the Witch” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc in North America on April 6th via GKIDS, distributed by Shout! Factory. The CG animated film, a first for the studio, was directed by Goro Miyazaki and features an English dub voice cast that includes Richard E. Grant, Kacey Musgraves, and Dan Stevens. The original Japanese language track will be included as well with this release, featuring English subtitles. Tech specs for the release have yet to be detailed but stay tuned for a possible update on that. The release will come as a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its DVD counterpart. Not only will there be a standard Blu-ray release, but there will also be a limited edition Blu-ray Disc SteelBook available (pictured below).

Weathering With You 4K UHD Blu-ray November

The 2019 Japanese animated film “Weathering With You” will be receiving a 4K physical release in the “Deluxe Limited Collector’s Edition” Blu-ray Disc set on November 17th via Shout! Factory / GKIDS. As mentioned this set will notably include an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc in the 4-disc set, as well as the Blu-ray Disc. Plus, there will be a Blu-ray bonus disc, the original CD soundtrack, a 104-page booklet, a mini-poster, and a decal sticker (pictured further below). The film, written & directed by Makoto Shinkai, features an English dub voice cast that includes Brandon Engman, Ashley Boettcher, Lee Pace, Alison Brie, and Riz Ahmed. This collector’s edition set will feature the same tech specs for the Blu-ray: a 1080p presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with both English & Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound mixes. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p 4K presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with both HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range as well as both English & Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound mixes.
