Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow 4K in May

The 2004 film “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray on May 27th via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). Kerry Conran wrote and directed the film which starred Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Giovanni Ribisi, and Michael Gambon.

The movie has received a new 4K transfer from the 35mm digital negative. Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10). Tech specs for the Blu-ray Disc included in this “combo pack” include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The specifics regarding the audio mix(es) for the release have yet to be announced. Stay tuned for an update.

The 2000 Sam Raimi film The Gift comes to 4K in December

The 2000 film “The Gift” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 3rd via Scream Factory (Shout! Studios). The film, directed by Sam Raimi and co-written by Billy Bob Thornton, starred Cate Blanchett, Giovanni Ribisi, Keanu Reeves, Katie Holmes, Greg Kinnear, and Hillary Swank.

This comes from a new 2024 4K restoration. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. This release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray counterpart. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available to preorder at Amazon. Also, you find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at online retailer GRUV. You even can preorder directly via Shout! Factory’s website.

Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2024 western “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1” appears to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 10th via Warner Bros. Discovery Entertainment — according to retailers. The film, directed and co-written by, and starring Kevin Costner, co-stars Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Owen Crow Shoe, Tatanka Means, Ella Hunt, Tim Guinee, Giovanni Ribisi, Danny Huston, Colin Cunningham, Scott Haze, Tom Payne, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Will Patton, and Luke Wilson.

UPDATE: The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will include a digital copy.

You can already find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder, with the [9/10] release date, over at Amazon. Also, the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are listed as available for preorder, with that same release date, on online retailer GRUV. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are also available for preorder at retailer Walmart.

Finally, it’s certainly worth noting that retailer Walmart will be getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) which you can find available for preorder. That release appears (from its artwork) to be coming as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included as well as a digital copy.
