2004 Dawn of the Dead remake on 4K in January

The 2004 remake of “Dawn of the Dead” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on January 31st, 2023 via Scream Factory (Shout! Factory).   The film, directed by Zack Snyder, with a screenplay adaptation written by James Gunn based on the 1968 George A. Romero film, starred Sarah Polley, Ving Rhames, Jake Weber, Mekhi Phifer, Mekhi Phifer, Michael Kelly, Kevin Zegers, Michael Barry, Lindy Booth, and Matt Frewer.

The film will be presented in the UNRATED cut on the 4K and both versions on the two additional Blu-rays included in this “combo pack” release.  The UNRATED Cut has received a “NEW 2022 4K Scan Of The Original Camera Negative” according to Shout! Factory.  Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but you can for sure expect a 2160p 4K video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with at least HDR10 form of high dynamic range and lossless audio in presumably 5.1 surround.  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray of the film available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy as well as directly via Shout! Factory‘s store.

Night of the Animated Dead comes to Blu-ray in October

A classic horror film will be receiving an animated remake in the form of “Night of the Animated Dead” officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on October 5th, via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. This animated film, a remake of George A. Romero‘s “Night of the Living Dead” (1968), was directed by Jason Axinn. The voice cast for this animated remake includes Josh Duhamel, Dulé Hill, Katharine Isabelle, James Roday Rodriguez, Katee Sackhoff, Will Sasso, Jimmi Simpson, and Nancy Travis.

UPDATE: The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.

You cannot yet find the Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon, or any other retailers, but stay tuned for an update. The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. The only extra set to be included with the release as bonus material is listed below.

Romero and Argento film Two Evil Eyes on 4K in August

The 1990 film “Two Evil Eyes” co-directed by George A. Romero and Dario Argento is getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray release on August 24th via Blue Underground. The film featured a cast of Adrienne BarbeauHarvey Keitel, Martin Balsam, E.G. Marshall, John Amos, and Tom Atkins. Tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio from a new 4K restoration in both Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono sound. The new 4K restoration here came from the uncensored original camera negative.

George A. Romero film “Creepshow” getting Collector’s Edition Blu-ray in October

The 1982 George A. Romero directed film “Creepshow” written by horror author Stephen King is getting a new upgraded “Collector’s EditionBlu-ray Disc release on October 23rd via the folks at Scream Factory (a division of Shout! Factory), as they announced yesterday. There’s no info regarding the tech specs or bonus materials detailed yet, but stay tuned, as they claim in September we will receive an update on that. The title is not yet available for pre-order over at Amazon yet, but expect it to be soon, and an update here when it is. It is available now however for PRE-ORDER right directly from Shout! Factory, where you’ll get some added bonuses, listed and pictured below.

Just note that in the final retail version you just won’t get the posters and such if you don’t pre-order it through the distributor and are one of the first 1,500 to do so. That’s a limited edition run on the posters.
