The film Hamnet comes to 4K and Blu-ray in March

Chloé Zhao directed, executive-produced, and co-wrote the screenplay for the motion picture. The movie is based on the novel (of the same title) written by Maggie O’Farrell. O’Farrell also actually co-wrote the script. Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes both served as producers. The movie starred Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. Its supporting cast included Justine Mitchell, Emily Watson, David Wilmot, James Lintern, Joe Alwyn, Zac Wishart, and Freya Hannan-Mills. It’s worth noting that this is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) and “Verified Hot” (by audiences) on Rotten Tomatoes.

UPDATED: The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray have now been detailed. It will include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-50 disc.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Both releases will feature a digital code (copy) of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride on 4K in September

The 2005 film “Corpse Bride” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 23rd. Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment will be distributing the releases. Tim Burton co-wrote and co-directed the stop-motion animated film with the help of co-director Mike Johnson. It featured the voices of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Watson, Tracey Ullman, Christopher Lee, and Albert Finney.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by HDR10 and Dolby Atmos sound. The 4K SteelBook and standard 4K releases will both include a digital copy compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Dune: Prophecy Season 1 on 4K and Blu-ray

The HBO original TV series “Dune: Prophecy – The Complete First Season” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc. It will be released on April 15th via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. This is according to retailers, as the title has yet to be officially announced by the studio. The show, based on the novel “Dune” written by Frank Herbert, was created by Diane Ademu-John and Alison Schapker. The cast features Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Chloe Lea. It also includes Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, and Chris Mason. Additionally, there’s Mark Strong, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, and Shalom Brune-Franklin.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound. It does not seem that digital copy will be included with these releases. Criterion brings Punch-Drunk Love to 4K in February

The 2002 film “Punch-Drunk Love” will be released on 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 4th via The Criterion Collection. The film was written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. It starred Adam Sandler, Emily Watson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Luis Guzmán, and Mary Lynn Rajskub. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has received a 4K digital restoration, supervised and approved by director Paul Thomas Anderson. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. 2001 Robert Altman directed film “Gosford Park” on Blu-ray in November

The 2001 Robert Altman directed film Gosford Park is getting a Blu-ray Disc release on November 27th via Arrow Academy – a label of Arrow Video. This film won an Academy Award for best Screenplay, and its star-studded cast featured Alan Bates, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jeremy Northam, Bob Balaban, Charles Dance, Michael Gambon, Richard E. Grant, Helen Mirren, Clive Owen, Maggie Smith, Emily Watson, and Ryan Phillippe. Tech specs for the release include 1080p video from a brand new 2K restoration (and a 4K scan) with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. This new restoration was “supervised and approved by director of photography Andrew Dunn” according to Arrow Academy. The title is available for PRE-ORDER now over at Amazon.
