Spinal Tap II: The End Continues on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2025 sequel “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and Blu-ray on November 11th via Bleeker Street (distributed by Decal Releasing). Rob Reiner directed and co-wrote the film. It stars Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, and Michael McKean. The supporting cast includes Fran Drescher and Paul Shaffer, with cameos by Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Questlove, Paul McCartney, and Elton John.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD MA 5.1 sound.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured in further detail below) and Blu-ray are now available for preorder at Amazon. The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and Blu-ray are also available for preorder at Walmart.

The 1975 musical Tommy is coming to 4K in March

The 1975 music “Tommy” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray via Shout Select (Shout! Studios) on March 18th. The film, directed by Ken Russell, featured music by “The Who” and guest musical performers. The cast featured Roger Daltrey in the role of “Tommy”. It also included Ann-Margret, Oliver Reed, and Elton John. Additionally, Eric Clapton, Keith Moon, and Jack Nicholson appeared. The lineup was completed by Tina Turner, John Entwistle, and Pete Townshend. This motion picture is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The movie received a new 4K transfer from the 35mm original camera negative and 35mm color interpositive. The tech specs for the release include a 2160p 4K video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.0 Quintophonic & 5.1 surround, and 2.0 stereo sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

UPDATED: The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. You also can preorder directly via Shout Factory’s website. No bonus materials are set to be included with this release.

Rocketman comes to 4K and Blu-ray in August

The 2019 musical/bio-pic “Rocketman” starring Taron Egerton is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on August 27th via Paramount. The film is based on the real-life story of musician Elton John and directed by Dexter Fletcher. Rocketman co-stars Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, and Bryce Dallas Howard. Tech specs for the 4K include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio in HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range with Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and each getting a digital copy (code) included of the film itself. Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are available to pre-order over at Amazon. This release will get two retailer exclusives in the form of a 4K Steelbook (at Best Buy) and a Blu-ray Steelbook (at Walmart). These two Steelbooks can be found pictured further below, after the break. The bonus materials set to be included on both releases are listed below. Be aware that the digital exclusives will be included, as you do get the digital copy (code) with each version.
