The 2024 film The Assessment on Blu-ray in June

The 2024 film The Assessment is coming to Blu-ray Disc on June 17th via Magnolia Home Entertainment. Fleur Fortune directed the movie. It stars Elizabeth Olsen, Alicia Vikander, Himesh Patel, and Minnie Driver. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (based on critics) at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.00:1 aspect ratio with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The Blu-ray is available for preorder at Amazon. The release does not appear to include any bonus material.

2017 film Wind River gets 4K SteelBook in September

The 2017 film “Wind River” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on September 10th via Lionsgate as an exclusive to retailer Walmart. The film, written & directed by Taylor Sheridan, starred Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Julia Jones, Gil Birmingham, and Graham Greene. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital copy. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless sound. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 4K and Blu-ray

The 2022 film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 26th, via Marvel Studios (Disney).  The film, directed by Sam Raimi, stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, and Rachel McAdams.

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will include its Blu-ray counterpart and both will come with a digital code (copy) of the film.

UPDATE:  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.  It’s certainly worth noting that there will also be an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) available over at retailer Best Buy, which is now up for preorder.

UPDATES:  It turns out that retailer Target will also be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray Art Edition of the film (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.

The 2014 version of the film “Godzilla” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 23rd via Warner. The film, directed by Gareth Edwards, starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Sally Hawkins, Juliette Binoche, and David Strathairn. The tech specs for the release include a 2.40:1 aspect ratio video presentation in HDR10 form of high dynamic range with Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will come with its original Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon. There will be an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release available over at retailer Best Buy (pictured below), which is now available for preorder.

Both “Captain America” sequels on 4K UHD Blu-ray late April

 

The two Marvel Studios sequels Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War are both coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 23rd, via Disney – according to an early alert to retailers. The titles had been said to be coming but we now finally get them both listed with release date and pre-order listings for each over at Best Buy.

UPDATE: The two titles on 4K are both now listed for pre-order over at Amazon – HERE and HERE. Those listings even include glimpses at the back of the packaging where we get the tech specs. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will be presented in the 2.40:1 aspect (as originally on Blu-ray), while “Captain America: Civil War” will be presented in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio (unlike the original Blu-ray). Both films will receive HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The bonus materials set to be included for each film can be found on the original Blu-ray releases. No new extras will be included on the 4K discs.

Each release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc included along with a digital copy of the film.

There will also be Steelbook releases for both of the films on 4K which will be Best Buy exclusives. You can’t pre-order those yet but they have placeholder pages HERE and HERE.
