The 1995 film Babe and sequel on 4K in December

Both movies have received new 4K scans from the 35mm original camera negative(s). The tech specs [for each film] on 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), and lossless 5.1 and 2.0 stereo sound, all on a BD-100 disc [for each]. The audio should be in DTS-HD Master Audio. Each release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 4K UHD Blu-rays for “Babe” and “Babe: Pig in the City” are not yet available for preorder on Amazon, but stay tuned for an update. The movie has received a new 4K digital restoration, supervised and approved by director Tim Burton. The tech specs 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, accompanied by lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 surround sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio featuring DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 surround sound. The 4K release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are now available for preorder at Amazon as well as directly via Criterion’s website. The bonus materials set to be included with the releases are listed below.

1983 film “Valley Girl” with Nicolas Cage is coming to Blu-ray October

The 1983 Martha Coolidge directed romantic comedy “Valley Girl” with Nicolas Cage and Deborah Foreman is coming to Blu-ray Disc on October 16th via Shout Select (Shout! Factory). Tech specs for the release haven’t been detailed aside from including a new HD video transfer in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The release will come in the form of a “Collector’s Edition” with the first pressing set to receive a cardboard slipcover. The release is not yet available to pre-order over at Amazon, but stay tuned for and update.
