A Complete Unknown on 4K and Blu-ray in April

The 2024 film “A Complete Unknown” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on April 1st. The physical media releases come via Searchlight Pictures (Disney). Directed, produced, and co-written by James Mangold, the film is nominated for 8 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It stars Timothée Chalamet, Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz, and Eriko Hatsune. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) and “Verified Hot” (by audiences) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) and Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo sound, on a BD-66. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Both releases will include a digital copy of the film.

2002 film Death to Smoochy comes to Blu-ray in August

The 2002 dark comedy “Death to Smoochy” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on August 20th via Shout Select (Shout! Factory). This release will be spine number 165 in the Shout Select series. The film, directed by Danny DeVito, starred Robin Williams, Edward Norton, Catherine Keener, Jon Stewart, and Danny DeVito. The movie has received a NEW 2K Restoration from the Interpositive. Tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. 1996 film Primal Fear on 4K UHD Blu-ray in March

The 1996 film “Primal Fear” will be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 26th as part of the Paramount Presents series, as spine number 43, through Paramount Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Gregory Hoblit, starred Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Edward Norton, John Mahoney, Alfre Woodard, Frances McDormand, and Terry O’Quinn.

The tech specs for the release have yet to be detailed, but you can very likely expect a 2160p video presentation with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and lossless surround sound.  The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included and a digital code (copy) of the film.  Bonus materials have yet to be announced, but you can for sure expect the previous Blu-ray extras ported over and possibly new extras.  Stay tuned for an update.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray release is now available for preorder over at Amazon.  Below you can see the packaging which includes a fold-out of the original theatrical movie poster.

The Grand Budapest Hotel gets Criterion Blu-ray

The 2014 Wes Anderson directed-film “The Grand Budapest Hotel“ will be getting a Blu-ray Disc release from The Criterion Collection on April 28th. The film, previously released on Blu-ray from Universal back in 2014, featured a cast of Ralph Fiennes, F. Murray Abraham, Mathieu Amalric, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Jude Law, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Bill Murray. The tech specs for the new Criterion Blu-ray include a 2K digital transfer, supervised by Wes Anderson, presented in 1080p HD video in a variety of aspect ratios (1.37:1, 1.85:1, and 2.40:1) with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound. The Criterion Collection Blu-ray of the film is now available for preorder over at Amazon and directly via the Criterion website. Bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.

Wes Anderson directed film “Isle of Dogs” is coming to Blu-ray in July

The 2018 Wes Anderson directed film “Isle of Dogs” is coming to Blu-ray Disc on July 17th via Fox Home Entertainment. The film features an all-star voice cast including talents like Bryan Cranston, Koyu Rankin, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Frances McDormand, Scarlett Johansson, Greta Gerwig and Edward Norton, to just name a few.

Tech specs for the release include full 1080p HD video and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. Bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below:
