The 1995 film Outbreak is arriving on 4K in March

Wolfgang Petersen directed the motion picture. The movie starred Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Morgan Freeman, Cuba Gooding Jr., Kevin Spacey, Patrick Dempsey, and Donald Sutherland.

This has received a 4K transfer from the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and lossless surround sound. The 2-disc set will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon and GRUV. The bonus materials for the release have yet to be detailed, but stay tuned for an update on that.

The Swordsman Trilogy on 4K and Blu-ray in March

The trilogy, all directed (or co-directed by) Siu-Tung Ching, includes these films:

  • “Swordsman” (1990) in 4K UHD and HD
  • “Swordsman II” (1992) in HD
  • “Swordsman III: The East is Red” (1993) in HD

The first movie was co-directed by King Hu, Raymond Lee, and Hark Tsui. The cast for the first movie included Samuel Hui, Cecilia Yip, Jacky Cheung, Sharla Cheung, Siu-Ming Lau, and Fennie Yuen. The second film’s cast included Jet Li, Brigitte Lin, Michelle Reis, Waise Lee, Rosamund Kwan, Shi-Kwan Yen, and Fennie Yuen. The cast for the third movie included Brigitte Lin, Joey Wang, Rongguang Yu, and Jean Wang.

The first movie received a 4K scan from the original camera negative. The tech specs for the first film include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) form of high dynamic range and Cantonese [and English dubbed] lossless DTS-HD Master Audio Mono, with English subtitles. The 1982 film Wild Style comes to 4K and Blu-ray

The movie has received a 4K restoration from the original 16mm negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.37:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, accompanied by newly restored lossless Mono sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.37:1 aspect ratio and lossless Mono sound. The 4K limited edition will come as a 3-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and an Audio CD featuring a new “megamix” and more. The Blu-ray will come as a 2-disc set with the CD also included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray Limited Edition and Blu-ray Limited Edition are both now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can preorder the movie directly via Arrow Video‘s website. 1960 Mario Bava film Black Sunday comes to 4K

The 1960 film “Black Sunday” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 7th via Scream Factory (Shout! Studios). Mario Bava directed the movie. It starred Barbara Steele, John Richardson, Ivo Garrani, and Andrea Checchi.

This will be a 2-disc “Collector’s Edition” and “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. This has received a new 4K restoration from the original camera negative. The Andromeda Strain is coming to 4K in May

The 1971 film “The Andromeda Strain” will be released via Arrow Video on 4K UHD Blu-ray on May 13th. This will be a limited edition release. The film, directed by Robert Wise, was based on the novel written by Michael Crichton. It starred Arthur Hill, David Wayne, James Olsen, Kate Reid, Paula Kelly, George Mitchell, Ramon Bieri, and Kermit Murdock.

The movie has received a 4K restoration from the original camera negative, by Arrow Films. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio mono sound.

2022 Death on the Nile on 4K and Blu-ray in April

The 2022 film adaptation of “Death on the Nile” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on April 5th via 20th Century Studios (Disney).  The film, based on the novel written by Agatha Christie, directed by and co-starring Kenneth Branagh, stars Tom Bateman, Annette Benning, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rosie Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound.  The 4K will come in the form of a “combo pack” including its Blu-ray Disc counterpart.  Both releases will include a digital code (copy) of the film.
