The 1996 film “Scream” will officially be celebrating its 25th anniversary with a 4K UHD Blu-ray release in both standard and SteelBook form on October 19th, via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Wes Craven, starred Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Jamie Kennedy, Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich, Rose McGowan, and Drew Barrymore.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray have not yet been detailed but you can for sure expect a 4K video presentation with HDR10 form of high dynamic range. Stay tuned for an update on the full details. The release (in standard and SteelBook forms) will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. The 2001 Richard Kelly film “Donnie Darko” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in a limited edition release on April 27th via Arrow Video. The distributor just announced this today via social media. The film, written & directed by Richard Kelly, starred Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Holmes Osborne, Mary McDonnell, Daveigh Chase, James Duval, Patrick Swayze, Jolene Purdy, Stuart Stone, Gary Lundy, Seth Rogen, Beth Grant, Noah Wyle, and Drew Barrymore. Both the theatrical cut and the Director’s Cut of the movie have received new 4K restorations from the original camera negatives, which were supervised and approved by the director Richard Kelly and the DP (director of photography) Steven Poster. The tech specs for the 2-disc limited edition 4K release will include a 2160p presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, for both versions, in HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The 2000 film adaptation of “Charlie’s Angels“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-rayon October 22nd via Sony. The film, based on the TV series of the same title and directed by McG, starred Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Lui, Bill Murray, Sam Rockwell, Tim Curry, Kelly Lynch, John Forsythe, Crispin Glover, LL Cool J, Tom Green, and Luke Wilson. Tech specs for the 4K (although vague in the press release) would seem to include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio from a new scan with the HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range along with Dolby Atmos sound and even the original DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix.
UPDATE: You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for pre-order over at Amazon. The 4K release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that you will also get a Blu-ray Disc and a digital copy of the film included. Bonus materials set to be included on this 4K release and housed on the original Blu-ray are listed below.
