2001 film Shrek gets a 20th Anniversary 4K release in May

The 2001 CG animated DreamWorks film “Shrek” will officially be getting a 20th Anniversary Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray release on May 11th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film, which was directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, featured a voice cast of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS:X sound on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will come with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and even a Blu-ray Disc of this 20th Anniversary Edition of the film now available for preorder over at Amazon.
UPDATE: There will also be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook of the film available an exclusive over at retailer Best Buy. It can now be found available for preorder and is pictured below.

The film, directed by Jill Culton & co-directed by Todd Wilderman, features a voice cast of Chloe Bennet, Albert Tsai, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Joseph Izzo, Tsai Chin, Michelle Wong, Eddie Izzard, and Sarah Paulson. Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include 2160p 4K video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and HDR10+ forms of High Dynamic Range along with Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. The DreamWorks animated film “How to Train Your Dragon“ (2010) and its sequel “How to Train Your Dragon 2“ (2014) are both coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on January 22nd, 2019 via Universal. Each film will be released individually, as learned from an early alert to retailers. Both films feature the voice talents of Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, Kristen Wiig, and Gerard Butler. Tech specs for the 4K releases include 2160p video in the 2.35:1 with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and DTS:X sound, on each film. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc and Digital Copy of the film included.
