Robert Redford film Ordinary People on Blu-ray March

The 1980 Academy Award-winning film Ordinary People will be coming to Blu-ray Disc as part of the Paramount Presents line on March 29th, via Paramount Home Entertainment. This release will be spine number 30 in the Paramount Presentes line of Blu-ray titles. The film, directed by Robert Redford, starred Donald Sutherland, Mary Tyler Moore, Timothy Hutton, Judd Hirsch, and M. Emmet Walsh. This movie won 4 “Oscars” (Academy Awards), including “Best Picture“, and was nominated for 6 Oscars total.

The movie has been “remastered from a new 4K film transfer overseen by Redford” according to a statement from the studio.  The tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for a later update.  UPDATED: You can now find the Paramount Presents Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.

The release will come with the typical fold-out original poster art on the slipcover as well as tasteful photos from the film also included throughout the package design (pictured below).

The bonus materials feature “new interviews with Hutton and Judith Guest, author of the novel upon which the movie was based.” Those extras set to be included with the release are listed below.

Final Fantasy The Spirits Within on 4K in November

The 2001 CG animated film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 16th, via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film, celebrating its 20th anniversary, co-directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi and Motonori Sakakibara, featured the English voice talents of Ming-Na Wen, Alec Baldwin, Ving Rhames, Steve Buscemi, Keith David, James Woods, and Donald Sutherland.

The film has been newly remastered. The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, as well as the original theatrical mix in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) on 4K

The 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 23rd via KL Studio Classics, according to a recent Facebook announcement. The film, based on the novel “The Body Snatchers” (written by Jack Finney) and directed by Philip Kaufman, starred Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright, Art Hindle, and Leonard Nimoy. The movie has been newly restored from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative, which was then approved & color graded by the film’s director (Philip Kaufman).

The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as lossless 5.1 surround sound and 2.0 Stereo audio mixes (presumably in DTS-HD Master Audio format), on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart, featuring the same 4K restoration and audio options (on a BD-50 disc for that).

The 2020 HBO limited series “The Undoing” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 23rd, 2021, via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The limited series, created by David E. Kelley and directed by Susanne Bier, starred Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Edgar Ramirez, Noah Jupe, Lily Rabe, Noma Dumezweni, Sofie Gråbøl, Matilda De Angelis, Ismael Cruz Córdova, and Donald Sutherland. The tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound, spanning across two BD-50 discs for the 6 episodes. The 2019 Sci-Fi film “Ad Astra” with Brad Pitt is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on December 17th, via Fox. The film, directed by James Gray, co-stars Tommy Lee JonesRuth Negga, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland. Tech specs for the 4K include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of a High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound. The 4K will come in the form of a “combo pack” getting its Blu-ray counterpart.
