Samurai Fury comes to 4K and Blu-ray in October

The 2025 Japanese film “Samurai Fury” arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on October 28th in the United States, via Well Go USA. The movie, also known as Muromachi Burai (or “Muromachi Outlaws”), was produced by the Toei company. Yû Irie wrote and directed the film. It stars Oizumi Yo, Matsumoto Wakana, Nagao Kento, and Tsutsumi Shinichi.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Japanese Dolby Atmos (featuring English subtitles) as well as dubbed English and Japanese lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound mixes. Nobody 2 is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in October

The 2025 film “Nobody 2” is slated for 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray release on October 7th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Timo Tjahjanto directed the movie. It stars Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd, RZA, John Ortiz, Sharon Stone, and Colin Hanks. It’s worth noting this movie is “Certified Fresh” (based on critics) and “Verified Hot” (based on audiences) at Rotten Tomatoes.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by Dolby Vision and HDR10, and featuring Dolby Atmos, on a BD-66 disc. Technical specifications for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Both releases will feature a digital copy of the film, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The Sound of Music arrives on 4K September 23rd

The 1965 musical The Sound of Music is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 23rd via Disney. The movie is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Robert Wise directed the film, which starred Julie Andrews, and Christopher Plummer. It co-starred Eleanor Parker, Richard Haydn, Peggy Wood, Charmian Carr, Heather Menzies, Nicholas Hammond, Duane Chase, Angela Cartwright, Debbie Turner, and Kym Karath.

TRON and TRON: Legacy on 4K on September 16th

The 1982 film TRON and its sequel TRON: Legacy (2010) are individually coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on September 16th via Disney. The first film [“TRON”] was directed and co-written by Steven Lisberger. It starred Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, and David Warner. The second film [“TRON: Legacy”] was directed by Joseph Kosinski. It starred Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, and Michael Sheen.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray releases of each film include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.20:1 aspect (for the first film) and 2.35:1, shifting to a 1.78:1 aspect ratio (for IMAX footage of the second film), featuring Dolby Vision and HDR10, accompanied by Dolby Atmos sound. Each release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Also, a digital copy of each film will be included. Here is some information about the restoration and remastering, taken from the press release just issued by Disney.

“TRON was digitally scanned and carefully restored by The Walt Disney Film Restoration team, who corrected dirt, warping, and other imperfections to ensure pristine image quality. The work was supervised by director Steven Lisberger. TRON: Legacy has been remastered in High Dynamic Range from the original digital sources under the supervision of director Joseph Kosinski. Meticulously remastered, both films transport audiences back to the digital frontier with an experience more immersive, dynamic, and visually spectacular than ever before.”

The TRON 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and the TRON: Legacy 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook have listings now available for preorder at Walmart. They’ve apparently sold out, but stay tuned for an update.

Here is a glimpse at some 3840 x 2160 (4K resolution) images that Disney has provided press. They were originally in TIFF format and around 45MB each in size. I have converted them to lossless PNG format, and they’re still as large as 20MB or so. So, be patient loading these. Enjoy!

Dark City is getting a standard 4K in November

The 1998 movie “Dark City” will get standard edition 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases on November 18th via Arrow Video. Alex Proyas directed and co-wrote the film. The movie starred Rufus Sewell, William Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Connelly, and Richard O’Brien. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes. NOTE: This release only includes the Director’s Cut and not the theatrical cut.

The movie has received a 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative. Director of photography Dariusz Wolski approved this. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10. It will consist of Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround, and 2.0 stereo lossless sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. It will also include Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD MA 5.1, and 2.0 sound.
