Zootopia 2 is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2025 Walt Disney Animation Studios sequel “Zootopia 2” will get physical media releases on 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and Blu-ray Disc on March 3rd, via Disney.

The movie was co-directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard. It features the voice talents of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Ke Huy Qua, as well as Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Idris Elba, Shakira, Patrick Warburton, Bonnie Hunt, and Danny Trejo.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-66 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound on a BD-50 disc. The 4K and Blu-ray releases will each be a 2-disc “combo pack,” with the 4K including its Blu-ray counterpart, and the Blu-ray including its DVD counterpart. Both releases will contain a digital code (copy) of the movie compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Nightmare Alley gets a Criterion 4K in October

The 2021 film “Nightmare Alley“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 28th via The Criterion Collection. Guillermo del Toro directed and co-wrote the movie. It starred Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, and Willem Dafoe. It also co-starred Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, and David Strathairn. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, based on critics’ reviews.

The theatrical cut movie has received a 4K digital master. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, along with Dolby Atmos sound for the theatrical cut. Also, you’ll get a 4K digital master of “Nightmare Alley: Vision in Darkness and Light” (2025) on a separate 4K disc. This is “a new 159-minute, black-and-white extended director’s cut, supervised by director Guillermo del Toro.” The other 4K tech specs include a 2160p Black & White video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, along with a lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound mix.

This 4-disc release will come as a “combo pack” and include a 4K for each version of the film as well as a Blu-ray for each version of the film. Nomadland with Frances McDormand on Blu-ray in April

The 2020 film “Nomadland” starring Frances McDormand is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on April 27th via Searchlight Pictures (Disney). The film, which is nominated for a total of six Academy Awards (including “Best Picture”), based on a book (written by Jessica Bruder) was directed by Chloé Zhao. This movie co-stars David Strathairn, Linda May, and Charlene Swankie. It’s also worth noting that this film is, at this time, “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes based on critics’ reviews. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will include a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now finally find the Blu-ray listed for preorder over at retailers Best Buy, Target, and Walmart as well as online retailer Deep Discount. There’s no Amazon preorder listing yet and because Disney doesn’t seem to like them, it may be a while before you can purchase it from there but stay tuned for an update on that. The 2014 version of the film “Godzilla” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 23rd via Warner. The film, directed by Gareth Edwards, starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Sally Hawkins, Juliette Binoche, and David Strathairn. The tech specs for the release include a 2.40:1 aspect ratio video presentation in HDR10 form of high dynamic range with Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will come with its original Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film.
