The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.66:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) with Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-66 disc. The release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital code (copy) compatible with Movies Anywhere.

UPDATED: The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. The bonus materials set to be included on the release have yet to be fully detailed, but you can expect all of the previous Blu-ray and DVD extras. The 1993 film Coneheads comes to 4K in August

The 1993 film “Coneheads” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray on August 19th via KL Studio Classics. Steve Barron directed the movie. It starred Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, Michelle BurkeAdam SandlerChris Farley, and David Spade. Additionally, it co-starred Laraine NewmanGarrett MorrisPhil HartmanTim MeadowsKevin NealonJan Hooks, and Jon Lovitz.

The movie has received a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, accompanied by DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound and 2.0 stereo sound, on a BD-100. The tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 1996 film Black Sheep is coming to 4K in March

The 1996 comedy Black Sheep” will be released on 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 25th via KL Studio Classics. Penelope Spheeris directed the film, which was written by Fred Wolf. It starred Chris Farley, David Spade, Tim Matheson, Christine Ebersole, Gary Busey, Grant Heslov, Timothy Carhart, and Bruce McGill.

Tommy Boy with Chris Farley comes to 4K in March

The 1995 film “Tommy Boy” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on March 25th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film, directed by Peter Segal, starred Chris Farley, David Spade, Brian Dennehy, Bo Derek, Dan Aykroyd, Julie Warner, Sean McCann, and Zach Grenier. It’s worth noting that this film will be celebrating its 30th anniversary next year in 2025.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 lossless surround sound. The 4K releases will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc HD counterpart and a digital copy included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) are now available for preorder at Amazon. NOTE: This film will not get a standard Blu-ray Disc release on home video. If you want this movie on Blu-ray you’ll have to purchase one of the two 4K UHD Blu-ray releases. This is a strategy from Paramount regarding 4K and Blu-ray releases. All of the legacy bonus materials will be included with these releases.

4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook

“Hotel Transylvania 3” comes to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc in October

The 2018 CG animated sequel “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 9th via Sony, according to an early retailer alert. Both the 4K and Blu-ray releases will come in the form of a “Monster Party Edition” (as the artwork suggests). The releases will also come as a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, Blu-ray getting a DVD and both getting a Digital Copy of the film included. Tech specs have not yet been detailed, and the only bonus materials we know about so far are the 2 Mini-Movies (mentioned on the art). Stay tuned for further updates once the studio (Sony) officially announces this title.

The animated film, directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, features the voice talents of  the following: Adam SandlerAndy SambergSelena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve BuscemiMolly ShannonDavid SpadeKeegan-Michael KeyJim GaffiganChris ParnellJoe Jonas, and Chrissy Teigen.

Lastly, speaking of Best Buy, it’s worth noting that it appears they’ll be getting an Exclusive Steelbook for the Blu-ray release of the film.
