Animated film GOAT comes to 4K and Blu-ray in May

NBA superstar Stephen Curry produced the Sony Pictures Animation film, directed by Tyree Dillihay and co-directed by Adam Rosette. It features the voices of Caleb McLaughlin, Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry, Nicola Coughlan, Nick Kroll, David Harbour, Jenifer Lewis, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, Andrew Santino, Bobby Lee, Eduardo Franco, Sherry Cola, Jelly Roll, and Jennifer Hudson.

It’s certainly worth noting that this movie is both “Certified Fresh” (by critics) and “Verified Hot” (by audiences) at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p UHD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), high dynamic range, with Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The 4K release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The 4K and Blu-ray releases will each also come with a digital code (copy) of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are now available for preorder at Amazon. The bonus material included with the physical media releases of the film is listed below.

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible). The audio format(s) have yet to be announced, but stay tuned for an update. I’ve even gone as far as to reach out to the director, but I’ll also try asking Shout! Studios. This will be a 2-disc set and come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart.

Thunderbolts* on 4K and Blu-ray in July

The 2025 film “Thunderbolts*” officially arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray Disc on July 29th. The releases will be via Marvel Studios, owned and distributed by Disney. Jake Schreier directed this latest film in the “Marvel Cinematic Universe.” It stars Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. It’s certainly worth noting this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) and “Verified Hot” (by audiences) on Rotten Tomatoes.

A Working Man comes to 4K and Blu-ray in June

The 2025 film “A Working Man” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on June 10th via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. David Ayer directed the film, which Sylvester Stallone co-wrote and produced. The movie starred Jason Statham,  Jason Flemyng, David Harbour, Maximillian Osinski, Merab Ninidze, and Michael Peña. It’s certainly worth noting that audiences have made this “Verified Hot” on Rotten Tomatoes, despite critics not being as kind.

2019 “Hellboy” film comes to 4K and Blu-ray in July

The 2019 Hellboy film starring David Harbour is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 23rd via Lionsgate. The film, directed by Neil Marshall, co-stars Milla JovovichIan McShane, Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim, and Thomas Haden Church. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with both HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray release include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. The releases will both come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and each getting a digital copy of the film. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc now both listed for pre-order over at Amazon. UPDATE: Now let’s talk exclusives. First, retailer Best Buy will also be getting an exclusive 4K Steelbook release (pictured below) which is now available for pre-order. Next, there’s also going to be an exclusive Blu-ray Steelbook release (pictured below) available over at retailer Target which is not yet available for pre-order but stay tuned for an update.
