The Mitchells vs the Machines Blu-ray December

The 2021 animated film The Mitchells vs the Machines is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 14th, via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film, as seen on Netflix, made by the folks at Sony Pictures Animation, was co-directed by Michael Rianda and Jeff Rowe. It features the voice talents of Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Eric André, Olivia Colman, Fred Armisen, Beck Bennett, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Charlyne Yi, and Conan O’Brien. Lastly, regarding the film, it also is most certainly worth noting, at the time of writing, that this is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

This version will be known as “The Katie Mitchell Special Edition” — where the character claims the following (on the cover art):

“Super special features made by me. I made this!!! So you gotta buy it!! I promise the special features are good & don’t stink.” 

UPDATE: The tech specs include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The bonus materials set to be included on the release feature some Blu-ray exclusives and are detailed below.

Underworld 5-Movie Collection comes to 4K in October

An Underworld: Limited Edition 5-Movie Collection will officially be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 5th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. A total of four out of five of the films starred Kate Beckinsale, and the third film starred Rhonda Mitra. The set will include the following five films in the franchise:

  • “Underworld” (2003)
  • “Underworld: Evolution” (2006)
  • “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” (2009)
  • “Underworld: Awakening” (2012)
  • “Underworld: Blood Wars” (2016)

This will be the first time that 3 of the films have ever been available on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format, as the first and last films have been the only ones that were previously released. The tech specs for the releases of each of the films include 2160p presentations in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The set will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that each film will include a Blu-ray Disc counterpart as well as digital codes (copies) for each film.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 comes to 4K and Blu-ray

The 2019 animated sequel “The Angry Birds Movie 2” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 12th via Sony. The film, based on the video game (“Angry Birds”) and directed by Thurop Van Orman, features the voice talents Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Leslie Jones, Bill Hader, Rachel Bloom, Awkwafina, Sterling K. Brown, Eugenio Derbez, Danny McBride, Peter Dinklage, and Pete Davidson. Tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray releases have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update on that. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc available for preorder over at Amazon. The releases will both come in form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting the Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting the DVD counterpart, and each getting a digital code (copy of the film). 2018 film “Halloween” officially comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in January

The 2018 film “Halloween” directed by David Gordon Green and starring Jamie Lee Curtis is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 15th, 2019 via Universal. The film is a sequel to John Carpenter‘s original 1978 classic (of the same title). Carpenter contributed music to this and served as an executive producer, along with Jamie Lee Curtis. Danny McBride co-wrote the screenplay and also served as an executive producer. It’s also worth noting that this film was a joint venture with Jason Blum (producer) and his production house Blumhouse. The cast includes Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Virginia Gardner, and Nick Castle. This (at time of writing) is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes by the critics, and seems to have been liked by moviegoers as well.

Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and DTS:X sound. The Blu-ray tech specs include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS:X sound. Both versions will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray Disc, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and a Digital Copy of the film included on each. Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray of the film are now available for pre-order over at Amazon. 2018 film “Arizona” comes to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in early October

The 2018 film “Arizona” starring Rosemarie DeWitt and Danny McBride is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 16th via RLJ Entertainment. The film, directed by Jonathan Watson, also co-stars Luke WilsonElizabeth GilliesKaitlin OlsonDavid Alan GrierLolli Sorenson, and Seth Rogen. Tech specs for the release and bonus materials have not yet been detailed, but stay tuned. It is known (via the art pictured above) that the 4K release will also include a Blu-ray. The film is available for PRE-ORDER on both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray over at Amazon.
