28 Days Later is coming to 4K SteelBook in September

The 2002 film “28 Days Later” is officially finally coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on September 1st via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Danny Boyle directed the film, written by Alex Garland. It starred Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston, Megan Burns, and Brendan Gleeson.

The movie has received a new 4K presentation, approved by director Danny Boyle. Here’s a bit of info about that.

To fully capture and correctly present the unique visuals of this movie for its 4K High Dynamic Range debut, the assembled original source video was used along with the section from original camera negative as used in the original theatrical release. These elements were then color corrected to take full advantage of the wider available color gamut. The picture and Atmos mix were approved by Danny Boyle.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) form of high dynamic range, along with Dolby Atmos and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The release will include a digital code (copy) compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook is not yet available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned for an update. Bonus material to be included with the release is listed below.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2026 sequel “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and Blu-ray on April 21st via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The movie was directed by Nia DaCosta, written by Alex Garland, and produced by Danny Boyle. It stars Ralph Fiennes, Alfie Williams, Maura Bird, Ghazi Al Ruffai, Jack O’Connell, and Erin Kellyman.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound.

You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured in further detail below) and Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon. Also, the Blu-ray is available for preorder at Walmart, while the 4K SteelBook has already sold out there.

The 2025 sequel “28 Years Later” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, 4K UHD Blu-ray, and Blu-ray on September 23rd. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be distributing. The movie was directed by Danny Boyle and was written by Alex Garland. It stars Alfie Williams, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell. The movie is “Certified Fresh” based on critic reviews at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.76:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. It will feature Dolby Atmos sound. The Blu-ray tech specs include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.76:1 aspect with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and 4K UHD Blu-ray will both come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart included. All of the home video releases on 4K and Blu-ray will include a digital copy of the movie compatible with Movies Anywhere.

2019 film Yesterday on 4K and Blu-ray September

The 2019 Danny Boyle directed film “Yesterday” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 24th via Universal, according to retailers. The film, which uses music from The Beatles, stars Himesh Patel, Lily James, Sophia Di Martino, Ellise Chappell, and Joel Fry. Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed for either the 4K or Blu-ray releases yet, but stay tuned for an update. It is known (from art) that both releases will come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K receiving a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and both including a digital copy (code) of the film. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray both are available for pre-order now over at Amazon. Also, they are listed as coming soon (with the release date) over at Best Buy.
