Icons Unearthed: Marvel comes to Blu-ray in January

The 2023 documentary series “Icons Unearthed: Marvel” will be available on Blu-ray Disc on January 14th via Mill Creek Entertainment. The Nacelle Company 8-episode series, directed by Brian Volk-Weiss and narrated by Joseph Culp, focuses on the history of Marvel Comics as a company and eventually as Marvel Studios with the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” series of films. This includes interviews with Lou Ferrigno, Clark Gregg, J. Michael Straczynski, Todd MacFarlane, Mark Millar, Zack Stentz, Victoria Bennett, JJ Field, and Jeph Loeb.

The tech specs for the release include a 3-disc set featuring a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. The bonus materials included with the release are briefly detailed below.

The 2002 film “We Were Soldiers” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 5th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film, directed by Randall Wallace, starred Mel Gibson, Madeline Stowe, Greg Kinnear, Sam Elliott, Chris Klein, Keri Russell, Barry Pepper, Jon Hamm, and Clark Gregg.

This is the first time the film has been available on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format. The tech specs for the 4K release and bonus materials have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. It is known that this release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included along with a digital copy. RUMOR: “Captain Marvel” coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray this Summer

The 2019 film “Captain Marvel” starring Brie Larson, that just hit theaters yesterday, is already rumored to be coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc sometime this Summer, perhaps in June. This rumor comes according to some early retailer alerts going around. The title has not at all been officially announced yet by the studio (Disney). The film, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, features a supporting cast of Samuel L. JacksonBen Mendelsohn, Jude Law, Annette Bening, Lashana LynchDjimon HounsouLee Pace, and Clark Gregg.

Tech specs and bonus materials, of course, have not yet been detailed. It is known that the 4K release will come in the form of “combo pack” which means that the 4K will get a Blu-ray included and a Digital Copy of the film will be included with each version. There are currently pre-order listings for the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc versions of the film over at retailer Best Buy. Best Buy will also be getting an exclusive Steelbook for the 4K release (pictured below) that is now available for pre-order.

Retailer Target will also be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray release of the film in a limited edition 40-page book style packaging (pictured below). That exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray book is available for pre-order as well over at Target. Lastly, stay tuned for any updates with further detailers regarding these releases.
