Kevin Smith’s Dogma comes to 4K in December

The 1999 film “Dogma” is finally coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on December 9th via Lionsgate / Lionsgate Limited. Kevin Smith wrote, produced, directed, and co-starred in the movie. It starred Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Linda Fiorentino, Salma Hayek, Chris Rock, Jason Mewes, Janeane Garofalo, Alanis Morissette, and Jason Lee. The film also co-starred the late Alan Rickman and George Carlin. It’s certainly worth noting that this movie is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
EDITORIAL NOTE: It’s also worth mentioning that this movie has been OOP (out of print) on the Blu-ray format for a long time. So, it’s great to see it will finally be back available on physical media.
The movie has received a new 4K restoration. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Atmos sound. The releases will both come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart, as well as a digital copy of the movie included.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. The standard 4K release will be available at other retailers. The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below in detail) is now available exclusively for preorder via Lionsgate Limited.
The 4K SteelBook will include one physical extra, a 25th-anniversary Dogma: Revelations of the Easily Offended booklet. The bonus materials included with both 4K releases are listed below.

DreamWorks film Madagascar on 4K in July

The 2005 DreamWorks Animation film “Madagascar” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 22nd, via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The movie was co-directed by Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath. It featured voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Cedric The Entertainer.
The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. It also features Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-66 disc. This release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. It will also come with a digital copy, compatible with Movies Anywhere.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon and Walmart. The bonus material set to be included with the release is listed below.

2022 film Amsterdam on 4K and Blu-ray in December

The 2022 film “Amsterdam” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on December 6th via 20th Century Studios (Disney). The film, which was written and directed by David O. Russell, stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Chris Rock, Anna Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Taylor Swift, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound. Yes, the Blu-ray does not get the Dolby Atmos mix. The 4K release will be in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will come with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and both versions will include a digital code (copy) of the film.

The 2005 remake of the film “The Longest Yard“ starring Adam Sandler will be making its debut to the Blu-ray Disc format on September 21st via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Peter Segal, co-starred Chris Rock, Nelly, Michael Irvin, Terry Crews, Tracy Morgan, Kevin Nash, Bill Goldberg, David Patrick Kelly, William Fichtner, and the late Burt Reynolds.
As mentioned, this will be the very first time this film has been available in Blu-ray format. The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. Spiral comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in July

2021 film “Spiral” starring Chris Rock is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 20th, via Lionsgate, according to multiple retailers. The film, the latest in the from the book of “SAW” franchise, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, and Marisol Nichols. The tech specs for the release have not been fully detailed yet, aside from both getting Dolby Atmos sound, for the 4K and Blu-ray releases but stay tuned for an update. The releases will both come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will come with its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray will come with a DVD, and both will include a digital code (copy) of the film.
