Harry Potter Anniversary 8-Film Collection on 4K

The film Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone will get a 20th Anniversary 8-Film Collector’s Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray box set on November 2nd via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The extravagant box set, being released to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the first (2001) film in the franchise, will be packaged in a replica of the “Hogwart’s Express” train (as pictured above). The 8 films in the franchise set to be included with the set are listed below.

  • “Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone” (2001)
  • “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” (2002)
  • “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” (2004)
  • “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005)
  • “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” (2007)
  • “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” (2009)
  • “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” (2010)
  • “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” (2011)

The tech specs for the releases should include the previous 2160p video presentations in the original aspect ratios with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS:X sound for each film. This set will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will also include the Blu-ray Disc counterpart in 1080p HD. All of this spanning across a 17-disc set. It’s unclear if a digital copy of each film will be included or not here, yet, but stay tuned for a possible update on that soon. The bonus materials included with the release are detailed a bit further below, including some physical extras such as a Hogwart’s Express ticket and a 32-page behind-the-scenes collectible booklet.

“Home Alone” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray September

The 1990 film Home Alone is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 15th, via Fox, in the 30th Anniversary Edition — according to multiple retailers. The film, which was directed by Chris Columbus & written by the late John Hughes, starred Macaulay CulkinJoe PesciDaniel Stern, John Heard, Catherine O’Hara, Roberts Blossom, and John Candy. The tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed, but stay tuned for an update on that once the studio [Fox] does an official announcement. The art (pictured above) tells us the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its original Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film included. That said, you can bet on getting all of the previous bonus materials from the original 2008 Blu-ray release. There’s no preorder listing for this 4K UHD Blu-ray yet over at Amazon but you can find it already listed over at retailer Best Buy, retailer Target, and online retailer Deep Discount. Finally, it’s certainly worth noting that there will be an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook for the film available over at retailer Best Buy. Sadly, the cover art for that hasn’t yet been unveiled.

Joe Dante film Gremlins comes to 4K in October

The 1984 Joe Dante directed film Gremlins is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 1st, via Warner, according to an early alert to retailers. The film, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Chris Columbus, starred Zach GalliganPhoebe CatesHoyt Axton, Corey Feldman, and Dick Miller. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. It is known that the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray and a digital copy of the film included. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for pre-order (with release date listed) over at Best Buy. Speaking of Best Buy, the retailer will be getting an exclusive Steelbook for the 4K release (pictured below) which is also already available for pre-order. Stay tuned for further info regarding this upcoming release. I must say, that Steelbook cover art is pretty simplistic.

UPDATE: Well, that didn’t take too long. The standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release is now listed as available for pre-order over at Amazon. Expect the price to drop significantly and they do have their “Pre-order price guarantee” if it drops. So, let the pre-orders begin!
