The 2017 film The Snowman is coming to 4K in May

The 2017 horror film “The Snowman” will get 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray releases on May 26th via KL Studio Classics [Kino Lorber].


Tomas Alfredson directed the movie, which starred Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Val Kilmer. The supporting cast included J.K. Simmons, Jonas Karlsson, Michael Yates, Chloë Sevigny, Toby Jones, James D’Arcy, and Ronan Vibert. Martin Scorsese served as an executive producer on the motion picture.

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound, on a BD-100 disc. The 4K release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc Special Edition counterpart included. Tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1 and 2.0 sound, on a BD-50 disc.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray are not yet available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned. Consumers can already preorder directly via the Kino Lorber website either 4K or Special Edition Blu-ray releases. The bonus materials included with the release(s) are listed below, sorted by disc.

American Psycho gets 25th Anniversary Edition 4K

The 2000 film “American Psycho“ will get a 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray release on December 9th exclusively via Lionsgate Limited. Mary Harron directed the motion picture adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel (of the same title). The movie starred Christian Bale, Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto, Chloë Sevigny, Justin Theroux, Josh Lucas, Bill Sage, Samantha Mathis, Matt Ross, and Willem Dafoe.

The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release will be the UNRATED Uncut Version (102 minutes), not the theatrical R-rated version.

The release will include some very imaginative packaging with a certain twist for those who are fans of the Huey Lewis and the News album “Sports.” The 4K disc will come packaged inside a CD jewel case along with some business cards to die for, as well as replica credit and Blockbuster membership cards (as seen below).

The 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available exclusively for preorder via the Lionsgate Limited website. It’s also worth noting that a VHS “Be Kind, Rewind” edition of the film will also be available in December via Lionsgate Limited as an exclusive. The bonus materials set to be included on this new 4K set are listed below.

The 2007 David Fincher film Zodiac on 4K in October

The 2007 film “Zodiac” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 29th via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by David Fincher, starred Mark Ruffalo, Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Edwards, Brian Cox, Chloë Sevigny, and John Carroll Lynch.

The release’s tech specs and bonus materials have yet to be detailed. Stay tuned for an update with further details about this upcoming release. It is known, via the artwork, that the release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included and a digital copy. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon.

“The Dead Don’t Die” on Blu-ray in September

The 2019 Jim Jarmusch film “The Dead Don’t Die“ is coming to Blu-ray Disc on September 10th via Universal, according to early retailer alerts. The film, a comedy involving zombies, features an all-star cast of Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Rosie Perez, Carol Kane, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Selena Gomez, and Tom Waits. Tech specs and bonus materials have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. It is known that the release will come with a digital copy of the film. You can already find the Blu-ray available for pre-order over at Amazon and is listed over at retailer Best Buy (with release date). Lastly, sadly there does not appear to be a 4K physical release of this film planned.

“Lizzie” with Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart comes to Blu-ray in December

The 2018 film “Lizzie“ starring Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart is slated to be coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 11th via Lionsgate. The film, based on the Lizzie Borden family murders from 1892, was directed by Craig William Macneill. The Blu-ray tech specs for the release have yet to be official detailed, but stay tuned for an update. You can likely expect 1080p video and DTS-HD 5.1 MA sound – although not yet confirmed. The Blu-ray is available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon. The only bonus material set to be included on this release is listed below.

The release will come in an “Uncut Version” (UNRATED), not the R-rated theatrical cut. Tech specs for the release include full 2160p 4K video in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. Both varieties of High Dynamic Range, HDR10 and Dolby Vision will be included. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc, as well as a Digital Copy, of the film also included. It’s not yet available for pre-order over at Amazon but stay tuned for an update. The bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.
