The 1989 comedy “Major League” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 2nd via Paramount Home Entertainment, according to retailers.  The film, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year (as noted on the packaging above), was written & directed by David S. Ward and starred Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, Corbin Bernsen, Margaret Whitton, James Gammon, Wesley Snipes, Rene Russo, Charles Cyphers, Chelcie Ross, Dennis Haysbert, Andy Romano, and Bob Uecker.

UPDATE:  The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the correct 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and lossless Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround sound.  The release will include a digital code (copy) of the film.  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon and Walmart.  It’s most certainly worth noting that there will also be a limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release (pictured below) that is available for preorder over at Amazon as well.  The bonus materials for both releases include all of the previous Blu-ray extras on the 4K disc. Those extras are listed below.

halloween_1978_4k

As I had previously reported, the 1978 horror classic Halloween directed by John Carpenter is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 25th via Lionsgate. The title has now officially been announced, near a month after we CORRECTLY reported the release date in our original rumor post – featured by our friends over at Bloody Disgusting. So here’s the full info. Tech specs for this release include 2160p 4K video in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with both Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and Mono sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc of the film included, and it is available for PRE-ORDER now over at Amazon. The bonus materials set to be included on the release have been fully detailed and are listed below.

  • Audio Commentary with Writer/Director John Carpenter and Actor Jamie Lee Curtisj
  • “The Night She Came Home” Featurette
  • “On Location: 25 Years Later” Featurette
  • TV Version Footage
  • Trailer
  • TV Spots
  • Radio Spots

Finally, there’s an official trailer for the upcoming 4K release now available. You would think that any intelligent home video distributor would realize that YouTube allows you to actually upload 4K video, and has for many years now, so you could show the fans what to fully expect of the video quality, would you not? Well, the folks at Lionsgate aren’t apparently the most tech savvy, it seems, as they figured 1080p would be just fine to advertise a 4K title. Pretty damn ignorant, wouldn’t you agree? Regardless, you can find the poorly thought out NON-4K trailer for a 4K release below.

Now, lastly after the break you can find the official announcement for this release.
