The 1953 Western Shane is coming to 4K in July

The 1959 Western “Shane” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 15th via KL Studio Classics. George Stevens directed the film. It starred Alan Ladd, Jean Arthur, Jack Palance, Van Heflin, Ben Johnson, Brandon De Wilde, and Edgar Buchanan. A Special Edition Blu-ray will also be available on July 15th via Kino Lorber as well.
The movie has received a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation. It features a 1.37:1 aspect ratio. The presentation includes Dolby Vision or HDR10 high dynamic range. It also provides lossless Mono sound, all on a BD-100 disc. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The tech specs for the Blu-ray Special Edition include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.37:1 aspect ratio and lossless Mono audio, on a BD-50 disc.
