The original 1953 science fiction film adaptation of H.G. WellsThe War of The Worlds appears to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray for the first time on September 27th via Paramount Home Entertainment, according to numerous retailers.

The film, directed by Byron Haskin, starred Gene Barry, Ann Robinson, Les Tremayne, Robert Cornthwaite, Sandro Giglio, William Phipps, and Jack Kruschen.

The 2-disc set release will also include the 1951 science fiction film “When Worlds Collide” directed by Rudolph Maté.  It starred Richard Derr, Barbara Rush, Peter Hansen, John Hoyt, Larry Keating, Rachel Ames, and Stephen Chase.  That film will be included on a Blu-ray in 1080p HD “remastered from the original film elements” according to a description over on Amazon (listed below).

You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon, as well as retailer Target.  The tech specs and info regarding bonus materials have not been detailed, as this release has not yet been officially announced but stay tuned for an update as this story develops.
