According to retailers, the 2010 film “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 6th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film, based on the “Scott Pilgrim” graphic novels, was directed by Edgar Wright and starred Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Alison Pill, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman, Ellen Wong, Johnny Simmons, Mark Webber, Brie Larson, Mae Whitman, Brandon Routh, and Chris Evans.
UPDATE: The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film.
The TV series “Star Trek: Picard – Season One“ will be making its debut to Blu-ray Disc in SteelBook packaging on October 6th, via CBS and Paramount, according to retailers. The show, which premiered this year exclusively on the CBS All Access paid streaming platform, continues on the story with [the former captain] “Jean-Luc Picard” from the previous “Star Trek: The Next Generation” TV series. The cast for the first season of Star Trek: Picard includes Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Harry Treadaway, Evan Evagora, Peyton List, and maybe a few other familiar faces.
Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed, but I’ll reach out to both CBS and Paramount individually later today — if a press release isn’t issued beforehand. The 2018 Adam McKay film “Vice“ starring Christian Bale is coming to Blu-ray Disc on April 2nd via Fox. The film, nominated for 8 Oscars, co-stars Amy Adams, Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, Alison Pill, Eddie Marsan, Justin Kirk, LisaGay Hamilton, and Jesse Plemons. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio – mislabeled in the press release. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and digital copy of the film included. The Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon.
