Talladega Nights gets a 20th anniversary 4K in August

The 2006 sports comedy “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook via a “20th Anniversary Edition” on August 4th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The movie, directed and co-written by Adam McKay, produced by Judd Apatow, starred Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. It co-starred Leslie Bibb, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gary Cole, Amy Adams, Jane Lynch, David Koechner, and the late great Michael Clarke Duncan. The movie has become a cult classic over the past two decades, especially with the NASCAR community. This marks the first time that it has been available in 4K UHD on physical media.

The movie has received a new restoration from the original camera negative. It will include both the Theatrical (108-minute) and UNRATED (122-minute) cuts of the movie in 4K. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range along with new Dolby Atmos and the previous lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound included. The 3-disc set will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterparts included for both versions of the film. A digital copy (code) compatible with Movies Anywhere will be included.

You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available for preorder at Amazon or elsewhere, but stay tuned for an update on that. The bonus material included with the 4K SteelBook is listed below, sorted by disc.

Adam McKay film “Vice” starring Christian Bale comes to Blu-ray in April

The 2018 Adam McKay film “Vice“ starring Christian Bale is coming to Blu-ray Disc on April 2nd via Fox. The film, nominated for 8 Oscars, co-stars Amy Adams, Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, Alison Pill, Eddie Marsan, Justin Kirk, LisaGay Hamilton, and Jesse Plemons. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio – mislabeled in the press release. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and digital copy of the film included. The Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon. “Step Brothers” with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly on 4K UHD Blu-ray October

The 2008 Adam McKay directed comedy “Step Brothers“ starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 2nd via Sony. Tech specs for the release include full 2160p 4K video in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc and Digital Copy of the film included. Lastly, I have to say this: this comes as some excellent news, considering the film today is celebrating its 10th anniversary, as it was released on July 25th, 2008.

UPDATE: This is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon and Best Buy.
