Talladega Nights gets a 20th anniversary 4K in August

The 2006 sports comedy “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook via a “20th Anniversary Edition” on August 4th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The movie, directed and co-written by Adam McKay, produced by Judd Apatow, starred Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. It co-starred Leslie Bibb, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gary Cole, Amy Adams, Jane Lynch, David Koechner, and the late great Michael Clarke Duncan. The movie has become a cult classic over the past two decades, especially with the NASCAR community. This marks the first time that it has been available in 4K UHD on physical media.

The movie has received a new restoration from the original camera negative. It will include both the Theatrical (108-minute) and UNRATED (122-minute) cuts of the movie in 4K. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range along with new Dolby Atmos and the previous lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound included. The 3-disc set will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterparts included for both versions of the film. A digital copy (code) compatible with Movies Anywhere will be included.

You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available for preorder at Amazon or elsewhere, but stay tuned for an update on that. The bonus material included with the 4K SteelBook is listed below, sorted by disc.

The 2004 romantic comedy “50 First Dates“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 23rd via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Peter Segal directed the movie, which starred Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Its supporting cast included Rob Schneider, Sean Astin, Allen Covert, Maya Rudolph, Lusia Strus, Amy Hill, and Dan Aykroyd.

The tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, along with Dolby Atmos and original theatrical DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The 2011 comedy “Bridesmaids“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on May 12th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

It’s worth noting that the movie is celebrating its 15th Anniversary, with a majority of the cast having a reunion onstage at the 2026 Academy Awards just this past Sunday. Paul Feig directed the movie, which Kristen Wiig co-wrote, and Judd Apatow produced. It starred Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, and Melissa McCarthy. The supporting cast included Rebel Wilson, Chris O’Dowd, Matt Lucas, Tim Heidecker, and Terry Crews.

The 2011 film Rango gets a standard 4K in March

The 2011 animated film “Rango“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray, in a standard release, on March 10th via Paramount. Gore Verbinski co-wrote the story, produced, and directed the film. It featured the voice talents of Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, and Abigail Breslin. It also featured the voices of Ned Beatty, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Stephen Root, Harry Dean Stanton, and Timothy Olyphant.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound, on a BD-66 disc.
