The 1989 film Steel Magnolias is coming to 4K in April

The 1989 film “Steel Magnolias” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 23rd via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Herbert Ross, starred Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis, Julia Roberts, Tom Skerritt, Dylan McDermott, Kevin J. O’Connor, and Sam Shepard.
Newly remastered from the original camera negative. The tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround mix. The release will include a digital code (copy) of the film

1994 film The Crow arrives on 4K Blu-ray this May

The 1994 Alex Proyas film “The Crow” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on May 7th via Paramount, according to the retail sources. There will be the choice of either a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray (pictured above) or a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteeelBook (pictured below) available. You can now find both available for preorder over at Amazon. The film starred the late Brandon Lee and co-starred Rochelle Davis, Ernie Hudson, Sofia Shinas, Michael Wincott, Bai Ling, Anna Thomson, David Patrick Kelly, Angel David, Laurence Mason, and Tony Todd.

The tech specs and bonus materials for this 30th-anniversary release of the film have yet to be detailed. The releases each will include only the 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc and a digital code (copy) of the film. No Blu-ray will be included. Stay tuned for updates on the tech specs and extras.

The HBO original series “True Detective: Night Country” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on July 9th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The fourth season of the show, created by Issa López & Nic Pizzolatto, stars Jodie Foster, Kali Reis, John Hawkes, Christopher Eccleston, and Finn Bennett.
The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. You can now find the Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon. Bonus materials set to be included with the release are listed below.

The 1969 Sergio Leone film “Once Upon A Time in the West” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on May 14th via Paramount Presents – as spine number 44 in the series. The movie, co-written by Dario Argento, starred Claudia Cardinale, Henry Fonda, Jason Robards, Charles Bronson, Gabriele Ferzetti, Woody Strode, Keenan Wynn, and Jack Elam.
UPDATE: Tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in Dolby Vision or HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround as well as a Dolby Digital Mono sound mix. This has received a new restoration as noted below (from a product description):
“Restored from the original camera negative by Paramount’s archive team, L’immagine Ritrovata and The Film Foundation. Special thanks to Martin Scorsese for his consultation on this restoration.”
The release will include both the 4K and Blu-ray Disc counterpart as well as presumably a digital code (copy) of the film – although not yet confirmed.
