The 2024 film Smile 2 is coming to 4K in January

The 2024 film “Smile 2” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on January 21st via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film, written & directed by Parker Finn, stars Naomi Scott, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Ray Nicholson, and Drew Barrymore. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Both 4K releases will be a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included as well as a digital copy. NOTE: It does not appear that a standard Blu-ray release will be released for this film.

The 2000 film Reindeer Games on 4K in January

The 2000 film “Reindeer Games” will be released in two formats. It will be available on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray Disc. The release date is January 14th via KL Studio Classics. The film was directed by John Frankenheimer. It starred Ben AffleckCharlize Theron, and Gary Sinise. It also featured Dennis FarinaClarence Williams IIIIsaac Hayes, and Danny Trejo. Further roles included Donal Logue and James Frain.

The movie’s theatrical cut has received a new 4K master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation of the theatrical cut in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and lossless 2.0 sound, on a BD-100 disc. The tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include a 1080p video presentation of the Director’s Cut in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 lossless sound, on a BD-50 disc. The Director’s Cut comes from an HD master. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The movie has received a new 4K digital restoration, approved by director of photography Oliver Stapleton. The 2009 film “Inglourious Bastards” will get a limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc release on January 14th via Arrow Video. The film, written & directed by Quentin Tarantino, starred Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, B.J. Novak, Daniel Brühl, Diane Kruger, Eli Roth, and Mélanie Laurent.

The 1988 Ron Howard film Willow on 4K in December

The 1988 film Willow is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on December 10th via Lucasfilm Ltd. (Disney). It was directed by Ron Howard and co-written and executive-produced by George Lucas. The film starred Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley, Warwick Davis, Billy Barty, and Jean Marsh.

NOTE: This will be using the 2010 restoration of the movie. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound, on a BD-66 disc. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray counterpart and a digital copy included.
