“Dark Phoenix” on 4K and Blu-ray in September
The 2019 “X-Men” film “Dark Phoenix” is reportedly coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 17th via Fox, according to early alerts to retailers. The film, directed by Simon Kinberg, features a cast comprised of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Evan Peters, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Jessica Chastain.
Tech specs for the releases and bonus materials have not been officially detailed yet, but stay tuned for an update. The 4K release will come in the form of “combo pack” with the Blu-ray included and each release will be getting a digital copy of the film included. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray both now available to pre-order over at Best Buy (with release date listed). You can find the 4K and Blu-ray now available for pre-order as well as on Amazon.
It’s also known that retailer Best Buy will be getting an exclusive Steelbook for the 4K version of the release. That Steelbook (pictured below) is already up for pre-order now over at Best Buy. Again, stay tuned for further info on these upcoming releases of the film as soon as we get it.
“From the Earth to the Moon” arrives on Blu-ray July
The 1998 TV mini-series “From the Earth to the Moon“ from executive producer Tom Hanks is slated to be coming to Blu-ray Disc on July 16th via HBO. This according to numerous listings on retailer sites. The mini-series featured Hanks as the host (narrator) and the included a cast of Nick Searcy, Lane Smith, David Andrews, Daniel Hugh Kelly, Chris Isaak, and Stephen Root. Tech specs for the 3-disc set include 1080p HD video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio that has been digitally remastered with a lossless surround mix – presumably DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound (although not yet confirmed). There’s also no word yet on the bonus materials (if any) set to be included aside from a digital copy of the series (as shown on the artwork pictured above). Joe Dante film Gremlins comes to 4K in October
The 1984 Joe Dante directed film “Gremlins“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 1st, via Warner, according to an early alert to retailers. The film, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Chris Columbus, starred Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Hoyt Axton, Corey Feldman, and Dick Miller. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. It is known that the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray and a digital copy of the film included. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for pre-order (with release date listed) over at Best Buy. Speaking of Best Buy, the retailer will be getting an exclusive Steelbook for the 4K release (pictured below) which is also already available for pre-order. Stay tuned for further info regarding this upcoming release. I must say, that Steelbook cover art is pretty simplistic.
UPDATE: Well, that didn’t take too long. The standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release is now listed as available for pre-order over at Amazon. Expect the price to drop significantly and they do have their “Pre-order price guarantee” if it drops. So, let the pre-orders begin!
