The 2019 sequel “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” seems to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 14th, 2020 via Disney, according to retailers. The film, directed by Joachim Rønning, stars Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Harris Dickinson, Sam Riley, Robert Lindsay, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update on that. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray counterpart (with bonus materials), the Blu-ray getting a DVD counterpart, and both getting a digital code (copy) of the film. You can’t yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray or Blu-ray listed on Amazon, but stay tuned for an update on that. In the meantime, however, you can find both the 4K and Blu-ray listed over at retailers Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. It’s worth noting that retailer Best Buy will also be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook of the film, which is now available for preorder (pictured below). The film, co-directed by Greg Tiernan & Conrad Vernon, features the voice talents of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, and Snoop Dogg. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release include 1080p HD video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD counterpart of the film and a digital code (copy) of the film included. The film featured a cast of Ice Cube, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Morris Chestnut, Nia Long, Angela Bassett, and Laurence Fishburne. The film has received a new 4K scan from its original camera negative. Tech specs for the release include video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound, as well as the archival 5.1 surround sound and theatrical 2.0 Stereo mixes. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart included along with a digital code (copy of the film). The film co-stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, and Benedict Wong. Tech specs for the 4K release include HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range at 60 frames per second in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. NOTE: This is the first release to feature Dolby Vision at 60fps, versus the traditional 24fps. Tech specs for the Blu-ray have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. Tech specs for the 4K release include IMAX Enhanced video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS:X sound. The 2019 reboot of “The Twilight Zone“ hosted by Jordan Peele, in its first season (Season One), will be getting a Blu-ray Disc release on February 18th, 2020 via Paramount, according to retailers. The show, which aired on CBS All Access, has been renewed for a second season (next year). Here, in its first season, the show featured cast members like Kumail Nanjiani, Adam Scott, Sanaa Lathan, Steven Yeun, Greg Kinnear, John Cho, Jacob Tremblay, DeWanda Wise, Taissa Farmiga, Ginnifer Goodwin, Chris O’Dowd, Zazie Beetz, and Seth Rogen. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed, but it is known that it will be a 5-disc set – including all 10 episodes. I’ll be updating this story later on, once I get some more info regarding this release from the folks at Paramount (or CBS). Stay tuned.
