New 4K UHD Blu-ray Releases for January 14th, 2020

– ad – commissions earned –The 2019 film “Ford v Ferrari” starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on February 11th via Fox. The film, based on a true story & directed by James Mangold, co-stars Jon Bernthal, Tracy Letts, and Remo Girone. This movie has received quite a bit of critical acclaim during its theatrical run, in fact, at the time of writing this carries a “Certified Fresh” rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The technical specifications for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the inclusion of its Blu-ray counterpart. Both the 4K and Blu-ray will receive a digital code (copy) of the film. You cannot yet find the film available for preorder over at Amazon, but stay tuned for an update. It is however listed over at retailers Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. Speaking of retailers, there will be retailer exclusives of this. There will be an exclusive SteelBook of the 4K available at Best Buy (pictured below). There will also be an exclusive 4K in Book packaging available at Target (also pictured below). Both of those exclusives are now available for preorder.

Both of these films were directed by the legendary Cecil B. DeMille and are here presented together for the first time in a 3-disc set. The classic 1956 film starred Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter, Edward G. Robinson, and Vincent Price. Tech specs have not yet been detailed for the release. So, stay tuned for some updates regarding this release. UPDATE: This Blu-ray set is now available for preorder over at Amazon. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD counterpart being included as well as a digital code (copy) of the film. The film, which was based on real events, features a cast of Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Nick Jonas, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, Aaron Eckhart, and Woody Harrelson. Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The technical specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect and Dolby Atmos sound. The releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K including the Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting a DVD counterpart, and both including a digital code (copy) of the film. – commissions earned –The 1936 cult-classic film “Reefer Madness“ will finally officially be getting a Blu-ray Disc release on February 25th via Kino Classics in collaboration with Something Weird. This release will be “Volume 2” in what is dubbed the “Forbidden Fruit: The Golden Age of The Exploitation Picture“ collection that includes a total of three individual volumes, and a total of six cult-classics. There’s more on those other volumes in that set later in this post. It’s first worth noting that this will included a bonus film, yet another propaganda piece called “Sex Madness” from 1938. Both of these two films included on this volume have been “meticulously restored from 35mm elements.” The exact tech specs for the release have yet to be detailed. The Antonio Margheriti directed film was also known as “Cannibals in the Streets” and “Invasions of the Flesh Eaters” in some regions. It starred John Saxon, Elizabeth Turner, Giovanni Lombardo, Cinzia De Carolis, Tony King, and Wallace Wilkinson. Tech specs for the release involve a “brand new” 4K restoration of the UNCUT version of the film presented in 1080p, likely in the OAR (original aspect ratio) of 1.66:1 on a BD-50 (50 gigabyte dual-layered) disc with a lossless Mono audio mix.
