Uncut Gems on 4K and Blu-ray via Criterion November

The 2019 Safdie Brothers film “Uncut Gems” is officially getting both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc releases on November 23rd via The Criterion Collection. The film, co-directed & co-written by Benny Safdie and Josh Safdie, starred Adam Sandler, LaKeith Stanfield, Idina Menzel, Julia Fox, Eric Bogosian, Judd Hirsch, Kevin Garnett, and The Weeknd.

This has received a new 4K scan [transfer] that was approved by the filmmakers (Josh and Benny Safdie). The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray set will come as a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. You can now find both The Criterion Collection 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray releases of the film available for preorder over at Amazon. Vanilla Sky on Paramount Presents Blu-ray in November

The 2001 film Vanilla Sky is officially coming to the Paramount Presents Blu-ray Disc line, as spine #27, on November 16th via Paramount Home Entertainment. The movie, written and directed by Cameron Crowe, starred Tom Cruise, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Kurt Russell, Jason Lee, Tilda Swinton, and Michael Shannon.

This has been newly remastered from a new 4K film transfer, done under the supervision of filmmaker Cameron Crowe. The tech specs for the release have yet to be fully detailed but you can for sure expect a 1080p HD video presentation in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio and a lossless 5.1 surround sound mix — presumably in the DTS-HD Master Audio format, as with the previous release on the format. Stay tuned though for a possible update on the tech specs. The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) on 4K

The 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 23rd via KL Studio Classics, according to a recent Facebook announcement. The film, based on the novel “The Body Snatchers” (written by Jack Finney) and directed by Philip Kaufman, starred Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright, Art Hindle, and Leonard Nimoy. The movie has been newly restored from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative, which was then approved & color graded by the film’s director (Philip Kaufman).

The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as lossless 5.1 surround sound and 2.0 Stereo audio mixes (presumably in DTS-HD Master Audio format), on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart, featuring the same 4K restoration and audio options (on a BD-50 disc for that).

The Woody Woodpecker Screwball Collection is coming to Blu-ray Disc on September 7th, via Universal Studios Home Entertainment, according to retailers. This set will include 25 original theatrical animated shorts, which all have been newly remastered, as noted below in the product description.

“Relive the hilarious, crazy adventures of Woody Woodpecker, everyone’s favorite wacky red-headed bird, in The Woody Woodpecker Screwball Collection! Created by renowned cartoonist Walter Lantz, these 25 original theatrical cartoons showcase some of the wildest antics in animation history.
